that Alabama cried to the commissioner about being required to carry Tennessee, Auburn, and LSU. Anyone outside of the SEC and anyone without malice and bias understands and concedes this game has been THE SEC Prime Time Football Game over the last 25 years and should remain as one of the annual premier matchups. Bama cried like a bitch if these 2 teams aren’t permanent opponents.

Alabama and LSU will be permanents so stop bitching about it. The game has been a ratings monster for 2 decades and the SEC isnt gonna just give that up

Why would Bama want out of a series they have absolutely dominated?

I hope there is pushback from both sides AGAINST making LSU-Bama permanent.

Smart LSU fans should NOT want Bama as a permanent.

Smart Bama fans should NOT want LSU as a permanent.

If they meet, let it be in the playoffs.

If you actually started the year it got interesting (2007),

It didn’t “just get interesting” in 2007. In the post-Bryant era (1983-Present), Alabama has played 7 opponents 25x or more, and LSU has been the second most competitive behind only Auburn:

Alabama Record vs Most Common Opponents in Post-Bryant Era:

.560 vs Auburn (23-19-1)
.616 vs LSU (26-16-1)
.631 vs Tennessee (26-15-1)
.781 vs Arkansas (25-7-0)
.854 vs Miss St (35-6)
.857 vs Ole Miss (30-5)
.923 vs Vanderbilt (24-2)

Pretending the series only got competitive upon Saba’s arrival in Tuscaloosa is not accurate. Between Bryant and Saban, LSU was 11-12-1 against Bama from 1983-2006. That’s highly competitive.

As they should.

Who else in the conference would have 3 of the Big 6 as permanent rivals?

This is the correct argument. Bama shouldn’t be saddled with a more difficult schedule than others have to face.

But these Bama fans acting as if they have no history with LSU and that its not at all a rival are fooling no one. It’s very much a rivalry now.

And over the last 26 games, it’s 15-11 in favor of bama, with multiple OT losses by LSU weaved in there….seems competitive to me when not using superlative and anecdotal language

LSU has more OT wins than losses during that time frame. Gotta love that anecdotal language right....

And seriously...

You are going to now come out crying about "superlative" language.

Just because CBS decided the game was worthy of the primetime slot doesn’t make it real.LSU has as many loses by 29 as they have wins in the last ten years. And in those primetime games, LSU only won twice. Including multiples loses by 28+ and back to back shutouts at home.

Honestly LSU/Auburn is more of a rivalry than Alabama/LSU.

Alabama has played Mississippi State more than any other school, to include Auburn and Tennessee.

It's also the shortest distance between two schools in the conference.

I’d much rather have LSU-UF as a permanent game.

Completely untrue.

Several reports from multiple independent sources inside the LSU athletic department and the SEC offices say that LSU's leadership is feeling the pressure from their biggest donors and working hard behind the scenes to make sure that the Tide isn't one of their permanent rivals.

Why keep a team on the schedule that has a thirty game lead on you head to head, has beaten you in twelve of the last fourteen meetings, and blew you out at home last year in embarrassing fashion? You don't need a likely loss on the schedule every year when you're trying to make the playoffs.

The LSU fans I know are sick of playing Alabama every year, and the LSU administration knows that it wouldn't be wise to go against their biggest donors. To quote Roberto Duran, the Tigers have decided "No mas" when it comes to Alabama.

We don’t have a 3rd legitimate SEC rival and neither does any other SEC team. The third rival is due to making the 9 game math work, not to protect a 3rd rivalry game.

Face it LSU fans, you aren’t getting Alabama, Arkansas, and Ole Miss while we get 3 Big 6 teams. I’d love it as a fan but it’s completely inequitable scheduling. Not going to happen and never was.
