If Lane Kiffin misses the playoffs this year, what will be the reaction of LSU fans?

Let's face it, LSU is not making the playoffs this year.
They'll lose 4+ against Clemson, Ole Miss, Texas, Alabama, Texas A&M, Tennessee.
So will Kiffin be on the hot seat in 2027 after he swindles the LSU fan base with excuses? Will he bolt after this season like he did with Tennessee?
It's all on the table.

Publicly they say they expected a rebuild and it's unfair to expect the 3rd highest paid coach with the most expensive roster to make the playoffs. Playoffs was never the goal year one and it's unfair to judge a coach until year 3.

He made the playoffs with much less at Ole Miss. LSU fans' expectations this year are through the roof right now.

based on the past few years and looking objectively at the schedule, i have 8-4 expectations until i see them on the field......
sure, new coach brings renewed "hope" but the SEC is still the SEC and a number of teams all have the same "hope" going into the season, and the reality is most will be disappointed come December

Believe it or not, we have a majority of reasonable fans, and none of them are expecting a miraculous turnaround this year. Improvement? Yes, but not instant success.

I think expectations are to slip in the playoffs, but not be a high seed, or just miss them. I think just missing them on selection day when we're still in the hunt and I'll be mad, but not overly upset. I think top 15 in the country is reasonable with our talent with the understanding that while very talented, it's a new offensive system and cast of characters. And the schedule is brutal.
If we go like 6-6, time to panic. Top 8, we're beyond expectations.

Never forget that Florida fans made custom t-shirts and went to Kiffin's kid's HS game just to end up with ANOTHER head coach from the G5

Lane has gotten 10 wins or playoffs at Ole Miss replacing rosters with transfers and OC/DCs every year. Why would he decline at LSU with a transfer roster better than he had at Ole Miss?

i expected 8-4 the past 2 seasons, and sticking with that prediction again this year until this team can prove otherwise on the filed.

It's a big deal if LSU misses the playoff with that transfer class. Going less than 10-2 after that class would be pretty bad.
