When did Lincoln Riley coach Mahomes?

He didn’t but when Baker and Patrick broke records everybody said they were just system QBs playing in a weak big 12, they would never transition to playing real defenses in the NFL. We all now know that’s bullshite. Same thing applies here. Jalen is a better QB under Riley than he was under saban.

It is for any non-Bama fan though it is a rhetorical question for a Bama fan.

Let's wait until Jalen plays a Top 25 defense before we start throwing things like that around. I know you guys didn't watch Alabama every Saturday in 2017, but Jalen was near perfect against bad defenses.

vs Fresno State, Colorado St, Vandy, Ole Miss, Arky, TN, Mercer
79/118 (67%)
1,184 yards
10.0 YPA
10 TD
1 INT
177.51 QB Rating

vs FSU, A&M, LSU, Miss St, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia
75/136 (55%)
897 yards
6.6 YPA
7 TD
0 INT
127.54 QB Rating

He's definitely better now (and was better by the end of last year because of his hard work and teaching from Enos), so I expect him to be better, but he's never had an issue against teams where he can get outside the pocket and make plays.

For his sake I hope he lights it up every game he plays outside of the one potential one with us. He's the absolute best and he deserves it.

The problem is that the weak defenses in the Big 12 make it hard to know if a QB is really good, or just good enough. They typically don't know until they get to the Pros.

Jalen was showing signs of being much better throughout last year. Tua is still the better passer, but Jalen is nothing short of amazing when he runs. Will that translate well in the NFL? I don't know - I hope he has a long and successful career in the NFL, if that's what he wants.

Jalen is unique - a player who succeeded at one school, but lost a starting job - and ends up succeeding at another school. He'll have spent most of his career at Alabama, but his best season will end up being with Oklahoma. IT is also possible he'll have a National Championship ring from Alabama and a Heisman from OU (doubt THAT has ever happened before).

Tua vs. Top 30 defenses

Completion: 58%
TD/INT: 6/6
YDS per attempt: 7.5

Must be a Bama thing and NOT a Jalen thing.

Or an injury thing.

But don't let me crap all over your narrative.

There's a reason Jalen's at Oklahoma and that reason is Tua. Tua would beat him out where ever he ran to.

OU's defenses are the gift that keeps on giving OU QBs the Heisman numbers.

Amazing the hype that Hurts is getting after one game against a Houston team that just switched coaches...This is what pisses me off about the Heisman hype so early. Less see how Hurts does in conference before the coronation begins.

Says the guy whose Heisman candidate QB threw two picks against GaTech.

It would be fact than an Alabama alum was winning the trophy.

The school where the player plays during his Heisman year is the claiming school.

Anything other than that is ridiculous, but you do see which school is in question over this... wouldn't surprise me at all.

Plus 26 yds net rushing and another TD.

Lol. Nice try.

Lincoln Riley is a genius when it comes to developing QB's and maximizing their talent. He's the OU coach and Jalen will win in an OU uniform.

Bama will have to settle for having Hurts on their "Distinguished Alumni" Wikipedia page.

Houstons D was ranked #106 in the FBS last year.

The only reason Jalen scored more TD's at Oklahoma in that game vs what he would have done at Alabama is because your defense is shite and you had to leave him in the entire game.

At any rate, Jalen has never struggled against such competition. Wait until you play a good defense, then we'll see if he's actually improved.

He is an Alabama alum either way and always will be.

Auburn doesn't claim more because you can't.
