Make a statement saying he has been contacted by several schools but right now he is focused on a playoff run and no decision will be made or announced until that is over. At least that what most adults would do.
The way he has handled this would make me very leery of hiring him TBH.

This was my thought too. I don't think I have seen/heard Lane Kiffin do much at all (except deny that he was given an ultimatum) to fuel this - all the media and AI generated BS isn't coming from him. I did see some noise his family was checking out the cities he could potentially land, but don't have any idea if that is true or not or just some made up stuff to get clicks.
He is under no obligation to declare his intentions to anyone.

Ok. His AD says he will match any offer. If you are Kiffin/Sexton, what would you do with two big SEC openings? Yup, reach out to UF and LSU. Send your ex/current wife to Gainesville and BR to look at schools and real estate. All while you continue to do your job.
Then, oh my, Sexton gets two offers. He brings these to Ole Miss and says match the highest offer.

If he comes to LSU , I’d be happy but if he don’t , no disappointment for me .
However after Ole Miss gets eliminated, and they will, Kiffin is going to be telling himself he should have taken the LSU or Florida job .

Seriously, Laned didn't do anything. He said from the begin that he does not do contract negotiations until after the season, and he has not done anything to deviate from his statement.
This circus is generated by fanbases on the other coach-less schools and sports reports looking for an exclusive.

It's because of the playoffs and the portal and recruiting classes for all the schools the timing is what makes this a big mess..not that losing him is a big deal as well but it's definitely a big mess..and LSU and all the other schools have to get Coaches in place before this time period to secure players as well. They will end up changing the portal and recruiting time period but it doesn't help anyone this year.
