The baseball player was kicked out of school within the week after the incident. He was also our starting first baseman and clean up hitter. Not sure what else UGA could've done in the situation.

Can you blame fields at all? Ohio has zero racism at all.

they dont have SCHOLARSHIP athletes in the crowd yelling the N-word at the team QB, though, do they?
That was so damn stupid. And why the crowd didnt beat that baw down is pathetic, too.

Sounds like UGA admitted they treated the poor young man in a racist manner

It’s kind o crazy we limit amateur student athletes ability to transfer at all.
I would like to see a reasonable update to this such that any athlete could transfer within their 1st two years without penalty. That’s a reasonable compromise.

Yes that's the card he is play to get the transfer waiver.
Because some dipshit redneck baseball player dropped an n-bomb in the stands?? That's grounds for a transfer waiver?

I don't believe this. Today in college football you can no longer have a high profile backup and expect him to not run your full offense. Saban and Dabo figured this out. All Kirby had to do was have Fields do more than hand the ball off and run designed QB runs. Kirby mishandled the situation because he did not want a QB controversy and it looks like Kirby wasn't concerned with having the best QB playing. And, I say it looks like Kirby wasn't concerned about having the best QB playing because if both QBs are running the full offense it will become clear who is better. Kirby simply didn't adjust to the new reality in college football.
Too much shade is being thrown Kirby's way on this situation. Fields thought he could beat out Fromm. Kirby isn't going to turn down the #1 recruit in the country because he already has a starter. Maybe he thought he could juggle a Hurts Tua scenario. But it's clear Kirby had to play the kid. He wasn't going to sit for a red shirt. Also, I don't think the kid is good enough to handle the playbook. Dude had plenty of snaps all year. It's unfortunate, but big time QB recruits expect to be Tua, Jalen or Fromm. If they don't progress, they blame the staff and bail. Fields could have stayed with his commitment. I mean, it's no secret what type of offense Georgia runs. He chose to go there because he's blown out on his own hype. Why go to Georgia in the first place? I can think of 10 schools that would have been great fits for him, and he chose the pro style offense with no proven QB coach, with a solidified soph starter! That's on him. I think the dude is a total bust anyway. He can't read the field, and he doesn't look comfortable looking off his primary reciever. He isn't even as good as Jalen was as a freshman. He fizzles out at OSU.

Justin Fields and Dwayne Haskins at the Ohio State v. Michigan State basketball game on yesterday. At this link you can see Urban Meyer be acknowledged at the same basketball game, walk off the court and hug Justin Fields.

How long before a player who wants to transfer out simply orchestrates a hot-button issue (race, especially) incident in order to get out without the sit year? And how long before a team who needs a QB hooks up a 5 star riding the bench by orchestrating it for him?

UGA needs to fight this transfer eligibility to the death. Otherwise that is an admission that there is a toxic racial culture there. They kicked the punk out of school swiftly that made the comment. End of story.

He absolutely shouldn't get a waiver, he has no leg to stand on
The NCAA is in a bad spot on this one but they're in a worse spot if they allow immediate eligibility. UGA handled the situation to the best of their ability and it opens the floodgates for the entire team to transfer if they allow this one.

I don't think UGA has anything to do with it at this point.

He shouldn't... Like the OP said, why stay if you were that worried.

It would be a very bad look and from everything I'm hearing he's gonna be granted a waiver.

It means any player in the country can transfer and be immediately eligible. It’ll open the floodgates.

Good. That should be happening right now anyway.

Ummm, no way in hell. If that ever becomes a thing then college football will be in big trouble. Wont happen.
