I know geographically it makes no sense and I’m no expert on UTs Rivalries.... however .... would a swap between Auburn and UT make sense with a 9 game schedule???

6-1-2

Rivalry
Auburn- Alabama
Florida- LSU
Georgia-TexAm
Kentucky-OM
Mizzou-Arkansas
USC-MSU
Vandy-Tennessee

Would UT playing UF, UGA, UK once every 3 years be enough for those rivalries? I’m just curious....

I know the simple fix is Auburn for Missouri
Go to 6-1-2 and lose Bama-UT permanent, seems simple but are there other options.

The current method is going to kill the SEC going forward in relation to history.

So, which is it? Are you wanting to preserve history, or forget it?

Be glad to. Back then Auburn was no more or less relevant than they are today. The 21st century gave us KICK6 Auburn upset over Bama. In the 70s your team was blocking 2 Bama punts and returning them for touchdowns to win a iron bowl Bama dominated....the more things change, the more they stay the same.

You're welcome.

SEC needs to recognize the heavy legging AU has performed in its service.... UT, UGA, Haven’t accomplished anything of note

How many times has GT been relevant since the mid 60’s? Three maybe four times?

Its baffling. AU people would rather piss on years of tradition and monkey around with longstanding logistics instead of firing Gus.

SEC should just dissolve the divisions and go with a 10 game schedule. That way dang near every game counts

How do you figure Auburn would play LSU every year if Auburn moves to the East? LSU's permanent opponent would be Florida. Auburn and Alabama would have to decide whether Alabama plays Tennessee every year or Auburn every year.

Missouri would move to the West and their permanent opponent is Arkansas. So since Auburn and Mizzou would trade places, Auburn would get Arkansas on permanent cross-division, and Mizzou would get Georgia.

You'd have to expand to a nine-game league schedule to accommodate Auburn-Alabama and Alabama-Tennessee every year or come up with some other solution/permanent opponent swap to not have the two paragraphs above be the reality.

with that schedule every year, Auburn would quickly become one of the little 8.

Historically Auburn is a solid 8 win team and that’s not changing no matter what division they play in.

Agreed.

Auburn would add Florida.
LSU would add Georgia.
Tennessee would add Auburn and LSU.
Alabama would add Georgia and Florida.
Florida would add Auburn and Alabama.
Georgia would add LSU and Alabama.

Who comes out the worst?

1. Georgia
2. Florida
3. Alabama
4. Tennessee
5. LSU
6. Auburn

Remind us again what Auburn has accomplished of note? Seems Georgia has accomplished as much or more than Auburn in every aspect of football. Auburn football is second tier yesterday, today and tomorrow.

So two perms and a rotation is the only workable way.

What if UA followed AU, and Mizzou and another came to the West? Vanderbilt would make the most sense geographically but that is another debate.

No permanent inter-division game. Rather 2 rotational and 1 "NFL style" based on where each team finished the year before. More parity that way; the SECCG rematch each year would be awesome.

That rusted and dust covered 1980 national championship trophy is a real sight to behold. Easily one of the top 3 must see attractions when visiting Athens.

Who says the east has to play east and west has to play west. Keep 2 permanents and rotate 6, screw it. As a Tenn fan, I would not mind playing Ole Miss instead of Vandy, LSU instead of Mizzou, etc. Not beating either anyway, why not vary it up?
