That was an actual legitimate claim though.
It's not like we declared 2003 or 2007 the same way.
But that 2019 team had a season that surpassed the 2011's season in terms of schedule.

Well, In 2011 Carolina went 22-8 SEC and 44-12 regular season and completed (starting in 2010 Omaha) a NCAA record 16 consecutive tournament wins on the way to a 2nd in a row baseball natty. So yeah Arky is in the conversation but gotta win in Omaha. BTW the nucleus of that 2010- 2012 team went to the finals at Omaha all three years and took 2 of 3. So Arkansas best team ever?....No. Not yet.

This. I live with 3 hog fans and they are treating the season like they already won the whole thing. I hope whoever does win, is from the SEC. But lets also hope the cockiness does not lead to a heartbreak in Omaha.

We were picked third in the west. In some ways Arkansas has overachieved.
Arkansas fans are celebrating because winning an SEC title is rare in baseball and they haven't won it outright since 1999.

Any team that wins it all is one of the greatest. I wouldn't count my bacon before my pigs get slaughtered.
In 1972 ASU went 60-4 (18-0). They swept through to CWS finals (64-4). Then proceeded to lose 2 games to USC. 64-6 (91.4%). If that team couldn't win the title, then no team is guaranteed to win it, no matter how good of a regular season you have had.
The same can be said on the flip side. Look at Coastal Carolina. In 07 OSU went 10-14 in conference yet won it all. The very next year Fresno St won it all even though they finished 33-27 in the regular season.

Absolutely nothing is guaranteed.
We are good, but we aren't unbeatable. I remember when Fresno State went on their run and they were just flat out unstoppable.
Another factor in all of this is TD Ameritrade....it's a pitcher's ballpark. I remember when UCLA won it a few years back and that's when they deadened the bats. UCLA's whole strategy was to pitch the ball up in the zone and catch pop flies in the outfield. No balls were leaving the yard.
When it comes down to it, no matter how much talent you have, things still have to go your way, the ball has to bounce your direction a time or two, that seeing eye hit has to come at the right time, etc.
I hate all of these Hog fans that think we are on the inside track to win it all. Are we capable? Yes. Are other teams also capable? Yes.
