Plus Bill Belichick helped him out big time. That actually saved his coaching career.

Bro, you're just pimping Bert to talk shite about Arkansas. You're not fooling anyone.

Bert choked away game after game here and was a total embarrassment at times. There were many reports of him blowing off planned in home recruiting visits and sometimes showing up drunk. He also went and talked shite about Texas high school football to a bunch of Texas high school football coaches. That really helped our recruiting a lot.

Bert deserved to get fired and nobody at Arkansas misses him.

Did he though? Is one game worth the incompetence?
Both Bert's floor, 3-9 (0-8), and ceiling, 8-5 (5-3), were lower than Pittman's and Bert wasn't competing in the NIL era. Funnily enough, Bert's best years were when Pittman was on his staff. This just goes to show how ridiculous the fanbase is being about Pittman in general.

Bert won less than 3 SEC games 3 times in 5 years. Pittman has done it once. Pittman isn't going into the coaching hall of fame anytime soon, but he's better than Bert.

Having one 10-3 season and beating South Carolina has you borderline elite apparently.

He’s 4 games above .500 at Illinois- the posters here are borderline retarded

I wish one of the media asked Bret why he has an opinion about the playoffs or if he was asking as a fan who may buy a ticket and go himself....

Bret is doing that in the best conference in college football. If Bret was in Gainesville I'm confident your program would be in better stead.

Bert went downhill when Sam left for Georgia. He knew he was screwed, he took a group of olinemen to Sam’s house and begged him to stay.

Sam was his best recruiter and coach and he couldn’t overcome it.

I don’t dislike Bert but he did a piss poor job of taking care of his football business and spent too much time partying and eating. He couldn’t handle the freedom of not being under Barry Alvarez’s thumb.

I'd believe that if Bret wasn't having success at Illinois. Y'all want to keep acting like the B10 isn't quality. That Illinois job when Bret got there was on par with where Mississippi State currently is.

It's not swinging for the fences to say Bret is a better coach than Napier.

Imagine what Arkansas could have achieved if Petrino wasn't such a prick.

Petrino was more the victim of sharing a division with saban, and a sabanized lsu than being a prick.

Lol it could be the best conference in the universe, going 10-3 and beating South Carolina by a possession doesn’t equate to “borderline elite”. Keep moving the goal posts

Morris wasn't the first choice. The problem was that we entirely fricked up the process and left the hiring of his replacement in the hands of people who didn't know what they were doing nor did they have any responsibility for the outcome. Morris was an illegitimate hire.

Petrino was the best game preparation and game manager since the Broyles, Holtz and Hatfield years.

His younger brother Paul Petrino was the best WR coach in the nation.

Petrino would make the rest of the coaching staff watch game film for hours into the night.

I don't know. Bielema and Illinois has had some recent short-term success. We will see if he can sustain it in the future.

Also, overall bowl record as a head coach.
Bielema 5-6 (2-1 at Arkansas)
Pittman 3-0
