After the convincing win against Oklahoma I started to wonder if this team could reach the Elite status that it held a few years back.

I have a red hat the has the word ELITE embroidered in black letters across the brow. I pulled it out of my closet for the first time since 2024.

After beating Alabama last week, my expectations jumped to the point where I was seriously wondering if this team could go undefeated.

The game yesterday brought me back to the reality that this team is just one of several teams that are very capable but not consistent.

We are going to have to get our priorities straight if we are going to beat Florida and Ole Miss in Oxford.

If we start playing more disciplined, and hungry, we will be elite. Time to see if we take that next step. We have the talent to do it.

Not having Bolden yesterday proved how thin we are and how far the quality of depth has fallen. If he plays yesterday, we probably win.

All anyone is ever going to talk about forever with this game is Gunner and his situation, but this is the big story in my opinion. Half of those bullshite quarterback runs for extra yards do not happen with kj. Their little league first touchdown that hung in the air for 10 seconds is easily picked off by kj. Gunner was wonky for sure but this game is a double-digit win for us if our All-American safety is playing.

I'm also surprised that when riddle got hurt and had to come out we put in branch. I know Jones is not Great in past coverage but seemingly does pretty well at run coverage so I was surprised he didn't get a single play in relief when the time came.

Maybe. Auburn only had 174 yards passing and both receiving TDs were absolute circus plays.

In the NIL/transfer portal era, every team has players who mentally check out in mid-season. I don't know if that's the problem here, but if a player shows signs they've stopped trying, they're not likely to get meaningful snaps. We have at least two on defense that are questionable, IMO.

This, the bounces went Auburn’s way yesterday and we couldn’t overcome it

Days of going undefeated are coming to a close, more of an NFL model with the ever enlarging playoff.

No, I was in school during the RG era.... 1992 UT game was the most Ray Goff game of that era.... Just us shooting ourselves in the foot over and over . Kirby usually keeps the undisciplined shite to a minimum, yesterday was about knuckle head players doing dumb shite.

I think yesterday was just a really uncharacteristically bad day. It is very rare to see the Dawgs miss a bunch of tackles and go -3 in turnovers in the same game. Auburn didn't make any mistakes either. Clean up the sloppiness during the bye week and the team will be fine.

We are as elite as anyone in the nation. How many undefeated seasons did Saban have? Out of 17 seasons at Bama, six were undefeated in the SEC. Seven had 1 SEC loss, and four had 2 or more SEC losses. Four of his 6 NCs had an SEC loss.

One loss is not the end of the world.

I think we still can be elite.

But I'm still concerned about some different stuff. For example, all of these 5 or 6 yard runs that opposing running backs are getting that used to be 1 or 2 yard runs up. And I'm not talking about going back to 2021. It seems like the trend just started in the last 2 seasons.

We do not have an elite team and haven't had an elite team since our NC teams.
There are a no. of deficiencies:
1. We do not have elite linemen. We got whipped in the trenches on both sides of the ball yesterday. They played well vs Bama because they also don't have elite linemen which was evident vs Tennessee yesterday.
The teams that spent big NIL money on linemen are going to become more prominent as the season progresses.

2. We do not have an elite QB. Auburn's offense moved the ball easily on our defense because they have an elite dual-threat QB who is 6'3" and 235 lbs.
We simply could not tackle him most of the time and yea, Bolden being out hurt mightily.
The teams that will look good in the playoffs will be teams with superior line play and true dual-threat QBs like Trinadad Chambliss.

3. We do not have healthy elite RBs. Phillips is our best RB but he is a lightweight and not suitable for power running between the tackles plus we obviously need better run blocking.

4. We do not have elite defensive backs. Robinson is probably our best DB; he's the only one I see who actually turns to look for the pass. When oh when will our DB coaches teach our defensive backs to turn and look for the ball. Had they done so, that circus catch in the endzone should have been an INT instead because the pass was under thrown and literally hit our defender in the back.

I hope we can get it together after the bye week but I think we will struggle with Missouri, Ole Miss and Florida due to said deficiencies.

I thought we were elite heading into this game. I really thought Gunner was locked in after the Vandy and Bama games. I love Gunner and it was a team loss but he choked at the end. The playoffs is going to require elite D and QB play.

We were in trail. Demello played that perfectly. His arm was up and in between the receivers two hands. It was a circus catch. We have to tip our hat to the receiver.

Robinson didn't get his head around on the other touchdown. That was a floater and should have been picked off every time.

Auburns QB isn't elite. He is 1 dimensional.
We try our base defense early in games. That includes light boxes on early downs. We cannot play light boxes against QB lead power. We needed to adjust to that earlier than we did.
Auburn scored 10 points in the second half and had a ton of 3 or 4 and outs.
Their opening drive was a TD with a 3rd down conversion on penalty.
The last field goal was after the butt fumble.
We normally shut those offenses down to 10-17 points for an entire game.

when we wanted to stop him, we did. Untimely penalties cost is this game more than anything else.

I am looking forward to the film guys review of our offense.

I an curious to see what auburn did to our OL. We didnt have the running lanes that we did against bama.

Instead of 2nd and short, we were in 2nd and long most of the game.
