Freeze kept a bunch of blue chippers for years. So did Jimbo, what more do you want? He couldn’t develop them.

I feel it, the game has changed. I read somewhere that ~70ish percent of players on the UGA roster were developed and not from the portal.

There are 3 big programs that arent even in the Top 25 of portal signings because they are still committed to recruiting as their bread and butter for success...those 3 are Ohio State, Georgia and Notre Dame.

Sorry to hear that. I wish you could've left with a better parting gift other than 2 blown out knees & TCU giving you any sense of relevancy but thems the breaks ain't it ? You'll be missed.

So tempted to hook you with the fact that ND didn’t even make the playoffs, but don’t want to derail since Jack here seems genuine and full of insight.

Georgia has more talent than Ole Miss. Talent was not why they lost.

Georgia has more talent than Indiana. Talent is not why UGA is watching Indiana play for the National Championship.

Notre Dame didnt belong in the playoffs. Still doesnt take away they have a top 5 recruiting class coming in which was my point. Ohio State, Georgia and Notre Dame would rather spend their money on high recruiting classes then the portal.

I actually feel like a fool for being part of this.

This is the inevitable next phase of the NIL era.

Phase 1: Elation among boosters that paying players is finally legal. Boosters come out of the woodwork and cut big checks with dreams that their team is about to be a dynasty.

Phase 2: new boosters jump in, huge money billionaires who realize CFB can be their toy, a game to be played by the Uber wealthy who arent quite in the "buy an NFL franchise" league of wealth. (WE ARE HERE)

Phase 3: Most boosters at most programs who have shoveled money into their program for a number of years realize it hasn't actually accomplished anything for their program. Donations start to drop off as the inter-billionaire dick measuring era takes shape.

Phase 4: The billionaires get bored with CFB and realize how much money they've thrown away to put some shiny metal statues in a cabinet they dont even own. They start withdrawing donations.

Phase 5: The big question mark. Do the regular boosters come back when their program of choice comes groveling and begging for money again? Or have they become comfortable not being involved in their program, and stay focused on whatever causes/spending they moved on to after CFB? One way to find out....

It’s dying to fans of about 10 schools. To everyone else it’s time to get payback - literally.

There is only one way to fix college ball before it explodes.

The SEC has been ESPN/ ABC’s cash cow for years. A select few made a handsome living off the money from TV. Since donor money is unlimited in theory, players will be making more money than they would in the NFL. Also, the players will sue to be able to play as long as enrolled and working toward degree. No Court will deny them this right.

So, the poor south can’t compete with the AAU RICH NORTHERN SCHOOLS. ESPN will fight hard to get its teeth into the B10 They won’t be interested in paying for Bama/LSU who are bad teams etc etc

Only way to stop this madness is forming NFL like league with 64 teams and 4 conferences with 4 divisions each conference.
1. Have spring Draft and free agency dates.
2. Collective bargaining
3. Contract employees ( this will be biggest sticking point)
4. No portal after 2 years you can enter free agency.

All networks compete for tv rights.

Commissioner of Football - selected by for conferences.
