We won it all in 2017 and we’re the only undefeated D1 team. We also beat the team that beat the fake playoff champs.

Alabama victories hasn't helped aTm and Georgia get those CFP at-large bids.
It has helped Bama get a do-over CFP bid. But only Bama gets those.
It has helped stack the rings on Saban's fingers that he flashes in front of all the doe-eyed recruits you compete with him for.
Notre Dame makes the playoffs, and they don't even have a conference.
Clemson makes the playoffs and their conference sucks
So no, I don't buy the whole "root for the conference" bit. There is no strategic advantage.

I'm going to try this approach at the next Summer Olympics. I'll show up for the 100m dash. When they hold the finals, I will also run, although obviously not with the actual, you know, field. Probably like off in a corner of the stadium somewhere that no one will see me. But I'll make sure I try as hard as I can! Then later on I'll find one of the competitors from the actual event and, when he isn't looking and is just walking or maybe just standing around, I'll run past him really fast, and then before he can react I'll stop and say the race is over and I won. And then for the rest of my life I'll tell everyone that I won the 100m dash at the 2024 Summer Games.

There was a time when nobody from the South got respect. The Pac and Big ten had the Rose bowl every year for the national title game and no one even considered southern teams from any conference. No matter how good we were down here we were 2nd fiddle.
Notre Dame had a Heisman winner from a 2-8 team. You think that ain't biased crap?
A strong Conference absolutely is important. The importance of SoS is so simple that this is like it's 2+2 stuff. Are you a moron or something?
