It seems like we've had this thread a lot of times before.

Yeah, our OOC is pretty easy. That's an established fact. But I think we're still working through the home/away contracts from the Big 12. In a few years we're going to be doing a series with USCw and one with Oregon a few years after that.

And don't forget y'all also draw Mizzou and Vandy.

to be fair, Vandy ain't what they used to be. Not likely to win that game, but still, a ton better than they were. They no longer lose games themselves, you actually have to beat them

It's not like A&M chose those opponents. Unless the REC is working for the Aggies now also...

Sorry, man. It's just an incidental benefit of being one of the SEC's featured programs. When the image of the entire conference depends on your success, certain encumbrances to achieving that success are lifted.

We're just trying to do our part to better the conference. Sorry we're a pillar of the SEC.

Maybe LSU would realize some of these benefits if it didn't embarrass our beloved SEC (I.e chicken bowl). But until then, can you really complain?

I predict Mizzou will upset TAMU in their last game. TAMU will be beaten up after playing LSU the week before.

What a titty baby.

Want to know how many bye weeks we had last year? ZERO
(to include the monster 7-week stretch of Arkansas, @Ole Miss, @ #23 Louisiana Tech, #6 LSU, @Auburn (who knew they'd suck so badly?), @ #15 Mississippi State, and @ #1 Alabama)

You play the cards you're dealt. Show me a soft SEC schedule, and I'll give you the business card of a head doctor.

Furthermore, what may look like an easy (or killer) schedule now could in reality be very different once the season is underway (i.e., last season we thought Arkansas, Auburn, & MSU would be much tougher foes; and we took the very solid squads of LA Tech and Ole Miss for granted).

Could happen. That's why they play the games.

Missouri should be better if everyone there stays healthy.

I expect Mizzou to be much improved, mainly because their OL problems should be behind them. The beat a good Arizona St. team, a good UCF team. Blew the game against a very good Syracuse team, that blew out WVU in their Bowl. Lost close games to Vandy & UF. They should at least make a Bowl this year.

So, the three favorites in the West next year have the following cross-divisional opponents:

Alabama: Tennessee and Kentucky
A&M: Vanderbilt and Missouri
LSU: Florida and Georgia

Sounds fair.

It is fair. If LSU weren't an also-ran program who's safe from having its losses highly scrutinized, then it wouldn't be.

But because Bama and TAMU are the conference's flagship programs, they must be catered to. Think about it--would you put your prize thoroughbred in the same stall as your quarterhorses? No, you give them preferential treatment to secure your winnings. Same idea here.

Anyway, once you realize it's good for the lesser programs to have Bama/TAMU play easier schedules, you want be upset.

What worries me the most about our schedule is going from playing Rice and SHSU, to Bama. That's like playing tennis against some random teenager at your local park to warmup for playing against Roger Federer. I would not be surprised if we look flat the first half.

I like playing those cupcakes before Bama. It gives our team time to work out any kinks and boost their confidence before the Bama game.

In 2011 LSU played 5-7 UK, 5-7 UT & 6-6 UF from the East. It's all fair in the end.

Bama knows if we do well next year then cable providers in Texas will HAVE TO get the SEC Network and then Bama makes some real money from expansion.

Hence our easy schedule.

Stop crying. A&M fans didnt when we had to play 12 straight weeks without a bye. We are also getting a home and home with USC in 2015 and a home and home with oregon in 2018
