Oklahoma brought in 50 cent because they only played for 2 quarters.
Heh.
Honestly - I'm surprised I haven't heard more 'Bama fans here. Because it wasn't a perfect effort. But it was a Hell of an effort. Down 17 and come rolling back ?
That means something.

That was 25-30 percent of all the offense they had all day.
Yes in many ways it was the opposite of the first game. Alabama won because of turnovers, special teams and often times getting good field position.
That's football.

.... and if we don't give away the first game OU doesn't make the playoffs.

So you're saying they just shut it down
All I'm saying is that it seems that play got in his head and affected him for the rest of the first half. He shook it off and played very well in the second half, but Bama had all the momentum by then.

Most excited about getting another 13 days of rest and no new major injuries that I'm aware of.
The team is talented enough to beat every team in the playoffs, but elite teams are consistent and Alabama has lacked consistency offensively. Injuries have played a large part of that, so I'm excited about the rest.

Without specifying I identified 2 crucial mistakes by Mateer that resulted in momentum swings, the special teams failures the others which IMO equaled from 16-20 points.
The pick 6 was obviously bad but when he did not run for a first down, the offense needed what, 3 yards and he had what looked like 20 yards of open field in front of him was costly.

Makes sense. Sorry to bug ya'. Tell me to piss off if I'm getting on your nerves.
Proctor. And why 'Bama "can't run". One seems to tie into the other to me. Why don't they just put him "hat on a hat" - old school point block - and just go behind that ? He's a big boy - but foot slow. Put him downhill out of his stance.

Numerous factors.
From what I understand Proctor isn't the kind of lineman DeBoer generally wants, but he's such a huge talent you have to play the guy.
While Alabama had more of a power rushing game in the past, DeBoer likes smaller athletic guys that can get pulled a lot and hit/block people in space.
It's kind of scary, but we are in transition so I try not to judge harshly. I'm use to being able to power rush when needed, but that's not likely to happen in the SEC with guys you want to pull.
He's only had 1 class of his own and they are mostly freshman this year. Some of our players are transfers from Washington, and while they are doing well for us, they weren't the 4 and 5 star players he's recruiting now.
Our line hasn't been steady all year. Constantly changing, never getting comfortable.
If the offense could hit some deep passes, that might help as well. Right now defenses are able to play up on the LOS much more than they should be. Putting pressure on Ty for pass plays to prevent the longer developing routes from getting open and also means more guys there to stop the run.
Jam Miller has been beat up all year. Our backup is a sophmore who I guess isn't the best pass blocker. But he looks better running the ball and got more carries this past weekend, so getting better. The 3rd string guy might end up being really good, but he's a true freshman this year. I think he might RS unless needed, not sure.
So basically, everything.

There at least three threads on it immediately after the game and the next day.

I agree. Then we could finally call him Captain John Mateer Sparrow

i said it, too. it was 3rd down and critical that they hold onto the ball. Still, i gave him credit for the good throw.
i really think the downfall started with the stupid late hit resulting in a 15 yard penalty and Alabama continues for their first score.

It was easily when the RB dropped that wide open TD over the middle on 3rd down and its not being talked about enough. The punter dropped the punt right after. Game was essentially over after that and you could feel it.

If youi have a receiver running wide open down the middle of the field for a sure touchdown, you take that every time.
It was a running back, and the 1st down was guaranteed.
Keep control of the ball for a few more minutes, probably make Bama back off a bit with the pressure, very likely come away with points and regain momentum.
And again... you have the lead. You don't want to get into a fast-paced shootout, you want to own the ball and make the opponent start feeling pressured and desperate.
