OP, does this make you feel better since Bama's not in the playoffs?

What, praying for Auburn fan? It’s clearly not about me, I’m doing an unselfish act of praying for my little brother. Please focus on the problem at hand or start another conversation. This isn’t about Alabama or about LSU and their recent struggles of keeping a Jalen Milroe offense under 42 points with a $2 1/2 million a year defensive coordinator

Auburn is a dark horse playoff contender next year

People are hyping up sun belt billy because he finally
Managed to win 2 games in a row after 3 seasons In the sec

But Auburn recruits at a high level
And just needs a qb and they’ll be a 9+ win team

I would bet way more on Auburn in the next 5 years than UF in coming back

AU is more like two years away barring a generational QB emergence from either the portal or our depth chart. UF and AU both have a LOT of young players though. UF is a year ahead of AU on the rebuilding process, and I expect UF to be the CFP dark horse next year, not AU. You have 18 TFR + true 2nd year (RSFR and SO) players in your 2-deep, the most in the SEC. Next year, those guys will be experienced and battle-tested. AU should start to right the ship next year with a youth-driven inconsistent 7-5-ish record, then we should be ready to rock in '26.

Auburn’s offense was just too complicated for Payton Thorn’s talent level. Plays were taking too long to develop and too many were low percentage plays anyway. Standing in the pocket for 5 seconds trying hit guys 40 yards downfield is not going to cut it in the SEC. We were able to move the chains in the few games that we called shorter passing plays and ran the ball more often. We had no answer to being blitzed. Why we didn’t throw bubble screens or run the draw play is beyond me? Defense played well enough to win more games.

I now know what UT felt like for so many years,

2008 (5-7) (Fulmer)
2009 (7-6) (Kiffin)
2010 (6-7) (Dooley)
2011 (5-7)
2012 (5-7)

2013 (5-7) (Butch Jones)
2014 (7-6)
2015 (9-4)
2016 (9-4)

2017 (4-8)

2018 (5-7) (Jeremy Pruitt Years)
2019 (8-5)
2020 (3-7) Covid was a weird year

2021 (7-6) (Josh Heupel Years)
2022 (11-2)
2023 (9-4)
2024 (10-2) with a chance to win it all.

It shows how hard it is to get back up after you have fallen. Sadly, I can see similar results for Auburn, we are in year 5 of suckage.

I think the game’s changed too much for Hugh to be the answer. But, just like Tenner, they’ll eventually make a good hire and be back in the mix no problem.

Basketball school now. You all should learn to embrace it like Kentucky has.

Auburn has had 5 seasons in the last 20 with less than four losses. They haven't exactly been a dominant program.

We literally won the SEC Championship last season and finished number 11 in a 12 team playoff race this season. We accomplished these things with a quarterback that this board calls Radio. Unfortunately because of a flawed system, the number 16 team made it into the 12 team playoff instead of number 11. But what does any of this have to do with Auburn and their dead program?

Even the best teams wander in the wilderness for extended periods of time. The right coach and a little bit of patience and they can definitely turn things around

I can understand that HF first year wasn't that great, but to have his second year worse than the first year is very telling.

2 questions remain though.
1- Is Hugh the right coach
2- Do Auburn fans have patience

The answer for #2 probably has to do with how much success Alabama is having. Considering we had a down year with 3 losses, Auburn fans are probably going to give Hugh another season. But when DeBoer gets his quarterback, I imagine the patience of Auburn fan will dry up quickly

Genuinely believe there is a 50% chance of this being true

And also a 50% chance of his enduring another 5 years in the wilderness

They got that Tim Cook Apple money. Money at Auburn aint the problem. The problem is they act with emotion and micromanage the frick out of their coaches. That's why BH basically quit fired. They also think they are too good for up and comers. They should have hired Jon Sumrall over Freeze. Freeze is going to get a big payday just like all the other mistakes they have hired. Auburn is he best coaching job in the country because you make more bank getting fired than sticking around.
