Something tells me Aggie fans are more offended for some reason...
Denver is terrible these days

Outside of the campus area, Tuscaloosa sucks. It ain't anything like Austin that is for sure.

I think few would argue that, and those who would are comfortable driving 15+ miles to go "shopping" at the Wal mart (not super Wal mart) and dollar general, both of which likely close at 6 pm on Sunday. That is not a knock on them, but we all have different perspectives that drive our opinions.
Even in the downtown area, there isn't much to do outside of bars and restaurants.
For me, I'm good with bars, restaurants and Wal Mart. I could easily live Tuscaloosa adjacent and provide my own entertainment chasing deer, Turkey, hogs, doves, crappie, bass and catfish, while skiing, swimming, and riding AtVs/dirt bikes around. A small patch of land and local access to waterways is more than I need. But, again, it isn't for everyone. Especially not the college aged kids Sark is talking about.

Sark making his boosters happy should be the thread title

Austin has become a satellite Silicon Valley. Of course, this is partly thanks to the incubation of the University of Texas MBA and software engineering programs. Still, everything that makes Austin a better college town is ultimately outside money. This is no different than any other college town. Austin just found an additional outside money stream besides federal and state subsidization of higher education.

The establishment of a 4 star level major Army command (Army Futures Command) responsible for building, shaping, and resourcing the future force of the Army in Austin was not accidental. Austin has a lot to offer along those lines.
I love Austin. It isn't a standalone college town. It has a life and culture of its own.

Sure, but for college kids. For a guy who has been in places where you can disconnect from the "college town" part of the city (Los Angeles, Seattle, Austin), Tuscaloosa ain't gonna give you that.

It's easy to pull for Sark. I hope for his sake he has learned how to stick to football and stay clear of past environments that almost destroyed his career. Who knows, feet of clay.

The first time this hit me was when I returned back to a college town in my 30s. I worked at UM and living in Oxford area was just odd. On any given night, there was zero seperation from College kids, families, business people, old couples, and middle aged professionals all out and about the square and in restaurants or bars (minus the "families" in the latter of course).
I moved to Batesville just to be away from it. It was crazy.

I guess Sark and visit them on off days. Might keep him away from the numerous bars and clubs.

Y’all are so concerned about what our school’s setting is. Austin is still one of the premier cities in the country, but don’t let that take away the opinion you get from the posters on texags. I’m sure all of them would rather live in happening College Station

I don't live in Austin. I visit it a lot for work - such as the Army Futures Command group mentioned a few posts up. That was a surprise to see.

No good bars to go to and they are too far from home.

Glimpse of Sark's future after being processed in the "Texas is back" syndrome.

Also an outside money influx from the federal government. It is kinda interesting that so many of the "good places to live" in a given state are essentially hoisted by the government funding pump.
