As a UGA fan I should probably care more about other teams getting into Atlanta than anyone.
I'm here to tell you I'd be more afraid of Big 10 teams playing in Atlanta at neutral site season openers from a recruiting perspective than in them playing at GT 4-5 times a year.
GT brings nothing. OSU playing Miami or FSU or Clemson or UF or Arkansas in Atlanta to open the season would have more recruiting impact. I really wish there were no more of those games. UGA plays in them mainly to keep one of the other two teams out, not because they help us. People playing GT doesn't help them recruit Atlanta at all.

More than half of Bamers are out of state.
So you think Bama doesn’t fit?

If the B1G isn’t going to add Stanford or Cal, they’re definitely not adding Tech. Tech comes with a hefty buyout from the ACC while the other two have been more competitive lately. All 3 lack much of any fan support and all 3 are well thought of academically

I think people are getting overly excited about what future expansions are coming in the near future.
I don't think the Big 10 is looking for more aside from ONE move.
They want ND. They'll bring Stanford with them if ND comes which gives them one more west coast team and ensures ND can keep their yearly Stanford and USC games in conference.

I was surprised to learn about 60% of future Gumps are from out of state.
Auburn does a play to be able to say greater than 50% are from in-state.
UGA and GT are good schools academically. I bet the Hope scholarship factors heavily in the larger in state attendance.

GT adds zero to any conference.
Dawg fans don’t hate them much anymore. Rarely think about GT except getting an easy ticket to see UGA play an exhibition down the street in Atlanta.

If the B10's gateway to the South is GATech, we can sleep soundly. Lol.

Lot’s of Uga fans in here acting that Tech wouldn’t complete if in the SEC…if we did take them, it would be very interesting. They have the alumni base to start a big NIL collective if they wanted.

Most P5 could say that.
It is a throw away comment.

My understanding is that the alums that actually give a shite about GT football are a dying breed. Is that false?

You’re not wrong most could, but Tech used to be a power house in athletics in the 90s. Atlanta is on a tear with growth, so all I’m saying is that I wouldn’t write Tech off completely especially being located in such fertile recruiting grounds. Obviously tough to complete with UGA but Georgia is one of the best HS football states in the country. If Clemson can become good, Tech can come back imo. Tech has just had dog shite coaches.

Deion would have been a good fit for GT and would have recruited much better there than in lily white Boulder.

Agreed. Will be interesting how the new coach does. I could see him being on a short lease. Atlanta is such an easy place to recruit.
UGA fans acting that tech is irrelevant is funny. Prior the last 5 years, Tech had a more recent natty and both under achieved from 2000-2016

Yes.
The problem with Tech is they have almost no fans in any sports. Their students care less about sports than nearly any other P5 school, and their alumni don't support them much either. They don't have local non-college grad support as that all goes to UGA.
They aren't all that different than Emory or Mercer if you add a team in Atlanta. Perhaps behind Kennesaw State in terms of sports support. I really don't see a need to block Atlanta by taking GT any more than I would with taking those schools.
I mean you can look at a map and think it would work... but if you have any familiarity with the school you realize it won't.
But then again, the Big 10 thought taking Rutgers would bring them NYC TV's, so they could try it anyway. It would work about the same.
I'm asking this as a legit question, not a shite on GT fest. Do you think there lack of participation is a legit school issue or a lack of them being competitive problem? If they won the acc this year would a million georgia tech fans pop up in the state of georgia?

LMAO
Their own fans think they're irrelevant.Look at their attendence, alumni donations and interest from students and sidewalk fans are almost non-existent.

And both achieved more the UT in the same period.

As a UGA fan, I have no problem with them joining. I just don’t know what Ga Tech, FSU, Clemson, or Louisville would add. It not like we are adding a Flagship school like Texas.
But add them if you want!

Paul Finebaum said regarding expansion: "It's like the Big 12 went to the Dollar General and just loaded up their cart with as much stuff as they could get in it and headed to the check out"
Think Tech is kind of Dollar General material. Big 12 interested or is Tech too expensive?
