Hypothetical...UGA could win SEC Championship and not go to playoff...

This is not a UGA will beat Bama thread...that's a huge uphill battle. But for the sake of argument if UGA won and (ND, Clemson, Mich) win out and the committee's goal is to include the best 4 teams I just don't see how they can leave out Alabama, which may be the greatest and certainly is one of the greatest teams in history.
Thoughts?

UGA goes to 3. Bama drops to 4. Michigan bumped out. Then we get to witness a glorious melt from the B1g folks.

Kinda hard to justify leaving out the team that beat “one of the greatest teams in history” from a 4 team playoff

I doubt it happens to UGA. But the scenario you're describing definitely could happen.
I mean hypothetically if a team like pitt were too upset Clemson in the ACC Championship game, you'd have a similar scenario.

absolutely false unless we lose to tech, and even then still 95% false.

because you don't put in a 1 loss non-champ over a 1 loss champ that just beat the non-champ.
This is real simple stuff folks. The committee may like bama but they aren't stupid. The only reason bama snuck in last year was because they had 1 less loss than OSU (1 compared to 2) and OSU had an utterly embarrassing loss. If OSU loses to iowa by 3 instead of like 30 they are still in.
IF we luck into a win and you have undefeated clemson, 1 loss uga, 1 loss michigan, 1 loss oklahoma, undefeated notre dame...there is no chance in hell bama is getting in without winning the sec.

Yep

If UGA wins and the status quo remains for the rest of the teams in the top 4, then Bama sits outside of the playoff.
How rare is it for the loser of the SECCG to even get an invite to the Sugar Bowl? It doesn't happen often.
A losing Bama doesn't top a 1 loss Michigan conference champ whose 1 loss is in the playoff.
Having one of the best teams left out of the conference championship game on a technicality is one thing. Having that same team lose the CCG? They won't get rewarded for the loss.

If Clemson, Notre Dame, Michigan, and UGA win out, I think Bama gets left out...I could see Bama getting in with a loss to UGA in most scenarios, but not that particular one...

There is a 0% chance that happens if both teams have 1 loss.
Zero.
Zero.

Clemson would likely need Bama to win if they get upset. If UGA wins, Bama is in over Clemson in this scenario.

It blows my mind some people still think that bama has already punched their ticket regardless of what happens, simply because of how good they've been thus far. With their only justificaiton to support it being last year, whihc isn't remotely an apples to apples comparison.
Gotta admit this is the first thread I've seen that has a 1 loss bama going in INSTEAD of a 1-loss sec champ uga though. That's a new one.

Sure they could...if they lose to Georgia Tech!

It’s like people forgot the main reason they got in last year were because there were only four 1 loss teams. PAC 12 & Big 10 champs both had two losses.

There no way UGA gets left out finishing 12-1 and with all the “Bama fatigue” in the country right now I don’t see the committee putting a non conference champion Bama in two years in a row.
Posted on 11/14/18 at 5:46 pm to athens-ga
No way this would happen. UGA would have the conference championship and head to head. If this happens, Michigan or Bama would be left out.

Winner of the SEC with only 1 loss goes.

You dumb redneck Georgia fans still don’t understand how the playoffs work.
Nowhere does it say they have to pick conference champions. Hell, Notre Dame isn’t even in a conference. They pick the four best teams. A 12-1 Alabama would be one of those four. Last year Alabama who was so awful we couldn’t even win our own division beat 2 of your precious conference champions in the playoffs. You think the committee has forgotten that?

As a neutral observer, I only ever see you posting about Georgia and I find that strange.
