Other Auburn fans will not like this, but barring a 4-8 type of record I don’t think there is any chance Freeze gets fired after this season.

This. It will take a collapse and complete abandonment by the fan base, but Cohen moving next year's Baylor game just added another log to the fire. Fans are not happy.

I posed the same question in the preseason to mixed results. Most said 8-4 would be disappointing but probably enough for him to keep his job. 7-5 passed for a couple. I suspect it depends on who the 7 or 8 are. If 2 of the 7/8 are UGA and Bama then he's getting next year I figure.

Being an Auburn football fan in the 2020s must be a lot of fun.

What makes you think Vandy is a guaranteed win?

No, Aubie can't continue firing coaches, it's a bad look for the university. Next year will be a prove it year for Freeze and personally I think he is going to breakthrough.

If he goes 3-4 with 4 straight SEC losses, two at home he is done... May not get fired on the spot. Lose to Arkie or UK, he is done.

6-6 100000% fired
8-4 100000% Safe

The 7-5, I believe he would be safe regardless of the losses, but 3-5 in the SEC is not good enough.

He's already on the hot seat. Most people didn't like the hire, he's been an abject failure, he's embarrassing on and off the field and I'm only talking about his time at Auburn.

I believe Harsin ruined Auburn reputation when things went south with Harsin. The Gus firing was the right thing to do but hiring Harsin and then firing him that got Auburn on the map as a bad look for the way Auburn handled the situation. Then hiring Freeze to make it another not so good hire. Auburn is getting close to becoming Arkansas 2.0.

Here's the problem:

Anyone steeped in SEC history/experience was not surprised when the tater brigade didn't work out when they refused to recruit.

That plays poorly nationally, but it was the the truth. AU's reputation is tarnished, but not ruined. We're still a founding member and Big 6.

Auburn is better than we all expected.

I also think Auburn needs a home game. OU and ATM are tough places to play.

Beating Georgia anywhere is a tall order... but Auburn will get a boost from playing at JH after those to road outings.

Every coach is one or two bad losses from the hot seat. No one is exempt.

No, they aren’t.

Yes, Auburn is. Marginally at least. Here are the KFord ratings change since the preseason by team ( LINK)

+9.6 Vanderbilt
+4.5 Missouri
+3.8 Ole Miss
+3.8 Miss St
+3.0 Oklahoma
+1.2 Alabama
+0.8 Auburn
+0.7 Texas A&M
+0.3 Tennessee
-0.4 LSU
-1.4 Arkansas
-2.9 Florida
-3.3 Georgia
-5.0 South Carolina
-5.9 Texas

There were lots of people expecting Auburn to win at least 8 games.

No one outside of Andy Staples and the most partisan Auburn homers expected Auburn to be 8-4 or better… and even for those who though 8-4 was likely, these two losses we currently have were expected by most.

Instead we are arguing about whether they will even have a winning record.

You might be. But Auburn is exactly where anyone who expected a 7-5 or 8-4 season would be after these first 5 games. There was literally no one on earth who expected us to enter the Georgia game with a 4-1 record or better.

The problem many on here were shoc I ed that Harsin was hired. He was a bad hire from the start. Then after Harsin being fired, Auburn found a way to hire Freeze that wasn't going to work. Once again going to end up looking for another HC next year if not this year.

Don’t see how you can rid of him at 7-5. That would the first winning season for Auburn since 2020.
