The same way we attacked Michigan. Overall Michigan was the best defense Texas will have to face this year. While the DT's and Will Johnson take most of the spotlight, if you watched the USC game you'd see the LB's are a really good group.
I think OU is softer up front than Michigan is, but I don't think that will matter. Sark will do what he always does and run a balanced offense.

How would you scheme to move the ball on the Sooners?
According to Tenner fans just get Cotton Bowl to grow grass a 1/4 inch longer and that will slow us down

We'll know right away if the Texas line gets any push. I worry that Sark won't be patient and will just go to the pass almost exclusively. Maybe it works since OU is short on DBs?

Michigan defense better than Georgia's?

Wut? OU is so slow that if they got in a foot race with a pregnant woman they would come in 3rd

And that cost us the game vs Washington. If he would have just RUN THE frickING BALL we would have beaten them since they couldn't stop the run.
I wish Sark was more about taking advantage of weakness than trying to be the balanced offensive mastermind when appropriate.

were short on OL, WR, and DBs.... unless an absolute miracle happens i think the shootout is going to be closer to two years ago than last year.

We lost both games last year because of the defense, not the offense.
34-30
37-31
If you give up 30 points in a game, you might lose. Simple as that.

Just punt on 4th down and let our O give you the ball back with better position.
Might I suggest just throwing a long interception first down and then getting the ball back on the immediate reciprocating turnover?

I was thinking about punting on first down to give our d good field postition

Throw over the top and spread things out. I feel like Tennessee could have done more vertically, but got up 2 scores and felt like they just needed to manage the game to a conclusion.
Front seven is pretty effective. Going to have to be able to protect.

Tennessee ran the ball 8 straight times for a TD right before the half.
That and some speed against the DB's seemed to be the 2 places Oklahoma D was weakest at.
But I did only watch the one game.
I think you have to consider the fact that one that particular drive OU's defense just wasn't emotionally up to par.
That drive happened after the SECOND time that Arnold turned the ball over on the play after they had gotten Nico to fumble.
That was really the only time that Tennessee really asserted their will on the OU D.
As to your second point. OU has gone to bigger corners. And as you stated, while they are better on ball pass defenders... they aren't fast.
Auburn might have a shot at some big plays against them one on one. But OU was second in the country in INTs last year with basically the same group. They can be problematic in that regard...
And that is likely one reason that Heupel didn't throw at them much in the second half.
I think another thing is that some of the crappy teams OU has played have been able to scheme people open at times in the OU secondary.

I don't disagree, but that's who he is and it's worked out for us for the most part. One could also say he didn't trust his running backs to hold onto the ball, since both Blue and Baxter coughed up fumbles.

Yes, that defense returned 10/11 starters from last year (they were the #1 defense last year). Georgia is a more complete team though.

Think OU's defense is getting a bit too much credit
Tennessee was down to their third string tackle with injuries to Heard and Campbell. The inability to block sped up everything and left Heupel in a position to not have the program's future die by leaving Nico out to dry.

Thinking back, we could’ve thrown a screen or two to test their discipline on over pursuit.

Thank you for the good humor.
When legendary coach Erk Russell was a high school coach, his team got up by one score in a torrential downpour. Every time his team got the ball, they immediately punted it back and played defense.
They won the game.

I would send an equipment manager in with the flu and hopefully infect the entire defense. Of course I'd have to infect the manager covertly. Not with covid though that would be going too far.

Ewers’ ability to layer passes beyond the Linebackers in front of the secondary should really come into play here. He’s excellent at that. I know he had 1 pick and 1 fumble last year vs OU but his career numbers against them are excellent. After his slow start last season, he really was cooking in the game
Also helmet comms should be a big help to Texas/Sark too. Venables has reputation and we will just leave it at that

Take shots down field, to start. Tennessee ran the ball too much, imo. I’m sure some of it had to do with their offensive line injuries, and OU’s trash field. Also, throw short passes to the outside, and middle of the field. I’m not saying abandon the run, but running the ball 50+ times is too much. I think their defense will look different in the coming weeks, vs Texas and Ole Miss. Both will score points, imo.
