Missouri fans are pretty cool though. They're always good visitors when they come to SC.

Mike Silvia baited the hook with Texas A&M to catch his white whale Missouri.

Agreed. I thought Mizzou was an odd fit when they first joined in '12, but the SC/Mizzou series has been a lot of fun and pretty damn competitive from the jump. They're a quirky bunch, but I enjoy it. I don't like losing to them, at all, but I don't hate Mizzou. I despise aTm, conversely.
The UTK series with Mizzou is pure chaos. That one, as a neutral observer, is the most underrated series in the conference.

Definitely a DEI hire.

To answer the question, because David Boren the OU President at the time wanted the Big 12 to work out or for school to be with the West Coast academics if it had to move.

How did OU get into the Missouri Valley Conference and now the SEC? Mizzou voted to let you in both times, such ingrates.

Yeah, but in this case it's a Damn Exciting Inclusion.

Rather than insult my neighbor to the North (and not that far North from where I live) the SEC really wanted A&M. Big stadium, loyal fans, and tempting bait to lure Texas down the road.
It needed another school to balance. That is where we ran into trouble. The schools to the East that people had heard of were married to the ACC and weren't budging back then.
Which meant we needed to look to the Big 12. Where there was one school that was desperate to escape to a new conference. Mizzou had good academics, two large cities, and at the time were legit national title contenders... if we had been running the current playoff system back then they'd have made it a couple of times.
It wasn't a great fit but it was good enough. Missouri had to give up most of its big rivalry games (the Kansas game stung) but in exchange they have the gold standard of conference stability. The Sec got two big markets.

I know he's a Sooner fan, so he won't see it, but it's pretty ironic that OP is using a win streak from the 1950s against Big Eight teams to demonstrate how the Sooners are more SEC. In fact, Oklahoma did not face a single SEC team during that streak.

Explanation to me was "St Louis market"
(as if I gaf about that)

I’m not bragging about our win steak as much as I’m trying to figure out how you’ve never won 10 games in a row before. EVER!

Yeah, imagine being so pathetic that you lost in all of the big three mens sports to A&M! You'd probably feel like a little bitch.
