Didn't Auburn go 9-4 in 2011...with a coach who, prior to coming to Auburn, had a combined 5 wins?

Your defense sucks so returning starters may not be a good thing.

It's good if they return with a year of experience and maturity. Some will return, and some will be replaced

defense can only get better from here

Holy shite there is some absolute stupidity in this thread.
Of course the offense will take a step back without jff and Evans, but the defense should take a step forward (they can't get much worse). Only time will tell the degree to which both of those things happen. 7 to 8 wins seems logical to me, and I wouldn't be disappointed with that result after starting a brand new qb. If sumlin continues to recruit the way he has and the staff develops these kids the program will be fine.

Manziel and Evans are freak athletes... I don't think it's irrational to think A&M will take a step back next season if those two are gone... somewhere in the 8-4 range (they may end up there this year anyway)... 2015 could see them back in the SEC title hunt.

We'll be able to rotate players on the DL for starters, and they won't all be underclass men. That should help the defense more than anything. Anyone else realize we had about a 4-5 man rotation on DL max? Injuries have killed us this year.

But please tell us we'll suck - that is when we are at our best

I don't think anyone who's not trolling/flaming is saying A&M "will suck" next season... 7 to 9 wins and a decent bowl game would make sense, and depending on how the new QB develops, it could go higher.

A&M will still have serious issues on defense next season... a return to 'above average' will be difficult (if not impossible). Giving somewhere in the low 400s per game would be a nice bounce back.

Auburn went 8-5 the year before and year after Cam so you can expect a drop off, but the big problem I see with A&M is you have no Nick Fairley or Josh Bynes on defense.

This thread seems so very much all the other failed rant predictions about A&M. We'll see.

Edit: I did not bother to read anything but the OP, so I could be wrong about the predictions contained in the thread.

Wild guess?

Better than 2011 or 2012 Auburn.

Wild Guess? Better than a Mike Shula, Mike Dubose, or Dennis Franchione Bama team

Each of those guys won 10 games in a season at Alabama.

Safe bet though? Better than a Mike Price Bama team - those guys didn't win jack. ;p

Auburn 2011 is exactly where aTm will be next year.

AU went 8-5 which doesn't sound bad until you look at the details.

Lost to Clemson by 14, Arky (Petrino Arky) by 24, LSU by 35, Georgia by 38, and Bama by 28.

Won the games they were supposed to win, got lucky against USCe when Garcia showed up sober, and got crushed by the other good teams on their schedule.

You mean the ones that said you'd finish no better than 3rd in the west again this year?

Yeah, they're going to be way off.

Come on, dude. That's about the only consensus prediction that the rant got right, thanks to our historically bad defense. You guys said we'd be at the bottom of the conference last year. You said Manziel was going to crash this year. You said that Saban was going to shut him down with a full offseason to prepare.

The hit rate on "rant predictions about A&M" is significantly below the hit rate for random arse guesses.

How many starters did Auburn return this year? Missouri?
