No doubt but the Johnsons obviously feel confident that he's going to be the starter.

Yeah he’s addressed the issue but I believe he’s referring to what we had on the field during his first 4 years.

No, he specifically said his quarterback recruiting, not handling or development. Jimbo's first QB recruit I believe was a late push for Calzada, a Georgia QB who Fisher battled for with UGA. That was a big win. Then it was Haynes King, one of the top dual threat QB's in nation. In 2021 it was Stowers, who I believe had an injury that dictated move to TE. in 2022, again one of the top QBs in the country- Weigmann, who many believe is THE best dual threat QB. Then of course we picked up Johnson, which might prove to be a good move and certainly gives us a capable, experienced backup. It's too early to grade how these will pan out, but he's definitely bringing in good talent.

Calzada though did not have all the tools needed; that's clear.

If Max does start then good for him. It’s just no guarantee. We already signed 2 4 star TEs in the 2022 class. He wouldn’t promise Max he would start to bring in another 4 star TE (Jake Johnson) with King and Weigman already in the QB room.

QB important? Georgia won it all without one.

Not taking anything away from Georgia but has the formula now really changed. If Metchie and Williams been able to go do you think Georgia would have been able to keep up with Alabama? Before anyone gets pissy my point is it still takes elite QB play and WR play to win national titles today. You remove Alabama’s ability to have elite WR play and yes Georgia was the better team.

Yes

I already answered this a couple of pages back.

I understand you missing it, this thread has gotten a little lengthy.

We would have gone 11-1 last year with Max Johnson level QB play, and the other two guys on the roster are more talented than he is. So yes, I’m optimistic. A lot depends on the schedule and how we replace what we lost on defense. If Miami and Florida aren’t significantly improved, our schedule looks pretty easy TBH.

Who would've been the lone loss?

Ole Miss

Based on film, the other two guys just possess skill sets Johnson simply doesn’t have. King and Weigman are both significantly more athletic and have better arms. That doesn’t mean either is better right now, they may not be, but both are unquestionably more gifted athletes. My point was if Johnson wins the job, it’s because he beat out more talented players with experience and is already much better than what we had last year. He’s better than Calzada, significantly so in fact, by literally every objective QB metric. He’s more accurate with more TDs, fewer INTs, more YPA, a higher rating and higher adjusted rating against essentially the same schedule. And Johnson did it behind an awful OL.

You guys live so intensely vicariously through your old QB’s that it’s not surprising seeing Tiger Rant pray for Max to start at A&M! Lmao I love it, Joe Burrow @ the Super Bowl all over again, just remember if Max wins a game at A&M, it’s not LSU winning, please, I prey for threads about you guy’s worshiping Max if he starts at some point and how A&M didn’t win, it was somehow LSU, bookmarked thread

Meh, Calzada played Max Johnson level ball vs LSU and you still lost.

There's no spin.

I stated facts, Aggies are trying to revise history to fit their narratives.

Does UGA get a healthy Pickens, Anderson, smith, and Ratledge? It’s so sad bama is the only team to have to deal with injuries.

Wow, six pages so far, mostly LosingSeasonUniversity fans and piggie fans. Sounds like some folks may be getting a little worried.

Right now, King has the inside track on QB1 for A&M next season. He knows and understands Jimbo's offense although he is still a long way from perfecting it. Johnson has experience but still has to learn the offense. It is a pretty complicated offense. Weigman will more than likely get redshirted.

I doubt Jimbo will announce who will be QB1 until almost the start of the season. The best QB will be the starter.

I’m pretty sure that this statement is T-Shirt worthy, and at the very least, cup worthy.
