Our pass rush is going to be our biggest problem. I think we’ll handle Pitt but I’m scared to death of Florida. Overall though Heupel is doing a great job, this time last year we looked like a dead program

QB: AR is a game changer as we expected him to be. Unbelievable physical ability including crazy arm strength. I think a lot of folks believe he is a one trick pony but his accuracy is actually fine. What he does need to improve on is reading the field. He's got some work to do there but he's young and I expect that to improve with experience.
WR: I expected this to be a weakness and it is. Our best WR is a white boy transfer from the PAC, so there you go. He's good but aside from him we have no one that will consistently get open or make big plays. I wish AR had some better targets that would really help him show off his throwing ability but he doesn't, so this is going to be a run heavy team.
TE: Like WR but even worse. We have no good targets. Our starter is a converted DE. I know Napier is supposed to love to utilize the TE but we just don't have the players right now to do it.
RB: This is a strength of the team. We have 3 really good players. Wright is supposedly the number one guy and he's a fine SEC back who's done well for us over the years, but against Utah, baby ETN and Montrell Johnson (transfer from ULL) looked better than him. ETN is explosive and shifty like his brother, Johnson is powerful and has great vision. Wright is solid at everything. Only negative is that they had a couple fumbles. Can't do that and expect to win.
OL: The oline played very well. I don't think they are an elite unit, but they are solid at both pass and run blocking. They won't be a weakness for this team barring injuries (depth is a concern) which is a breath of fresh air.
DL: This unit is a concern. For the first time that I can remember, the gators applied very little pressure all game. Even when we were trash, we always had a couple guys who could get home at pass rusher. Utah has a good line and I don't think we blitzed a ton, but it's still a problem. The starters are fine, Dexter is very talented as is Cox (though he often loses contain or makes some other bone headed play), the biggest issue is that we have no depth behind them. Dline needs solid rotation in SEC play to keep guys from getting tired, but we just don't have any extra good bodies right now. Utah started to have more success running on us as the game went on for this reason. Keeping the game close against UF will be very important for our opponents because they should be able to take advantage of the lack of depth later in the game and run on us.
LB: Ventrell Miller is a beast, but we don't have much quality otherwise. Especially guarding TEs down the middle. That Utah TE ate us alive all game, he was essentially their only receiving threat and we still couldn't cover him. He's going to be in the league but it's still concerning. Burney saved the game at the end with his INT but he's still a weakness.
DB: They really weren't tested, which I believe is a combination of 1.) They are a solid group and will be a strength for us on defense this year and 2.) It didn't seem like Utah had great receivers. We'll know more about them going against an offense with some weapons on the outside. Marshall is really young but looks to be a lock down type of player already.
ST: Don't really know what we have at kicker. Could be a concern, but we'll know soon enough. Punter seems good. KR needs some work, they consistently brought it out of the endzone when they should have taken a knee. Game change Coordinator (lol) needs to shore that up.
Coaching: I thought the team looked poised and calm under pressure. That was nice to see. Some of the play calls could have been better. Liked that Napier had the confidence that we would make it on 4th down and winded the clock before taking a timeout. That was pretty ballsy and it worked out.
I think we can compete with most teams on our schedule this year except for Georgia on AR and the running game's shoulders. As long as we aren't losing games we shouldn't and keeping things competitive in the others I'll be pleased with the season.

This is the same offense as last year. Take what the defense gives.
So when Oregon gives uga the perimeter and we do more screens (we did a lot last year) and instead of all toss sweeps, Stetson tosses a jet sweep...
That is the definition of a modern offense?
Do people watch the games or just the boxscores?
Apologies for going against the rules of the thread.

I have no issue with you having your opinion.
It is probably going to be the opinion of a lot of people this year (except a few nameless vols fans).
I just disagree that the offense is different. The only difference against Oregon was Stetson tossing the Jet sweep 2 feet so our perimeter play could beat a defense lined up to take away inside zone.

I wasn't talking to you in the first place. Please go elsewhere and argue. I was wrong to comment on another team in this thread and have apologized. Let's leave it at that please.

Carolina has elite special teams. Two 50+ yard FGs, two blocked punts. That in itself can win 2 games a year.
Defense looks stout in the secondary, and the LBs are shored up. Not much pressure from the edges, and the DTs are just OK.
Offensive skill positions are likely the best we've ever had. But the OL is putrid. Rattler doesn't have time to make his reads, and the RBs can't get much push inside.
Never apologize for winning in week 1, but there needs to be improvement in the interior of the lines if Carolina wants to make some noise down the stretch.

I hope MAX Joshson gets some real series this weekend with our top receivers(who looked solid) and not just mop up time. Ap St gave up a ton to North Carolina so that should happen. But will it?
My guess is Max will be playing some time in the near future.
O line already covered by others.

It's hard to tell. Tennessee looks good, but let's talk after Pitt.

WR play has increased drastically. A couple of freshmen look like the real deal.
Evan is the real deal.

South Carolina
QB: Rattler finished low on QBR, but he looked much better than that showed. He showed great pocket presence considering that pocket collapsed almost instantly, He showed a good throw on the run. He just has to be careful with wanting the big play too much
RB: I think we are solid here. Lloyd looked solid, Juju is good, and Bell can take some carries. we get beal back also
OL: HUGE CONCERN. They could not hold a pocket and honestly it hurt our whole offense. If they can get it together and give us time, our offense will be fine
TE: Stog and Bell are great
WR: Vann was very quiet, but brooks and Juice played well. I expect brown to do well
DL: they got great push all game, could be a strength of our D
LB: I thought they played well, stout in the run game
CB: Still a concern to me. Cam runs his damn mouth all game, and I didnt see much from him. 24 got beat a few times. I think we are vunerable here
SP Teams
they were very solid first game. I look forward to that
