They have no qb...yes mullen is a good coach but talent isnt that great. I understand 3rd but second is a stretch year one.

Nick Saban finished 7-6 and fifth in the West with a home loss to UL-Monroe in his first year at Alabama. GOAT Nick Saban.
I expect Merlins to do very well at UF but not in the first year. He is not better than Saban.

Agreed. He’ll likely have some growing pains in year 1 and 2. But by year 3, the program will be rolling imo. The East could get really tough in a hurry.

Exactly. Why the hype?
Tbh I’ve seen a few predictions threads with several posters putting UF 1st or 2nd in the east. You could argue confirmation bias for both sides of this.
ETA: or generalization. Whichever works. I’m tired

Like a couple have already said there has not been much hype for UF but I think it is unrealistic to think they will stay down forever. This year probably won't be so great but they will likely improve over the next few seasons.

So USC is worlds more talented than UF? I could see UF finishing between 2nd and 4th in the East.

We have a weaker than normal schedule and return a lot of experience. I guess it depends on what they think will be good enough for 2nd in the East.

I don't see any hype but just look at UGA. It doesn't take much to jump to the top of the East with only a couple players.

Picking UF second or third in the SEC east isn’t about UF hype. It’s about people still thinking the East is still shite outside of Georgia.

Does Dan have enough players/talent on his current roster that will buy into his physical scheme in year 1? We'll see. JMO but the hire of Dan was a great hire. The Gators and the Dawgs gonna have war in the East.

You think so? I was thinking your schedule was pretty respectable.

And a lot of that experience is on offense, which has not been very good for quite awhile, plus no real QB.
A new coaching staff, offense, defensive scheme. Just seems like a lot to overcome the first year for Mullins. It could come down to the South Carolina game.
I think it will finish:
UGA
USC
Florida
Mizzou
It's possible Florida finishes 2nd, but if you do, I would consider it a very successful year.

A couple of players? We had 3 drafted in round #1 of the NFL and 6 or 7 drafted.
