Not anxious to claim it, just curious why we don't...
I'm not sure. It's a good question, though. I've always found it interesting the Championships some schools choose to claim, while not claiming some others that seem like a better argument could be made.

All-time rankings. The hardware says UF.
Okay. Claim it, then!
Stuff like that doesn't make me feel better or worse about my program.

the hardware that says UF has 1 more season than UGA in being best in the country?
Or the hardware that says UGA has 5 more seasons than UF of being best in the league that we both play in?

Then why do y'all get so upset about the possibility of UF being a better program?

Upset? Who? Y'all is a pretty ambiguous word.
I mean...are you upset?

why would we be upset about something that will probably never happen

I understand what you are saying, but you are arguing the opposite view point. Does that mean you are upset?

"It's preposterous! Outrageous! Rabble rabble!"

you're welcome, I guess
we would have to implode and y'all would have to be on fire for 2 decades for y'all to catch up
will Merlins be that Genie in a bottle that Gators are looking for?
maybe, maybe not - it's sure possible
but I don't see us imploding any time soon

How can Florida dominate Tennessee and Georgia for the last 30 years, win more titles and SEC championship games then both combined and still get placed behind both?
You don't understand the difference in "historically" and "since Spurrier arrived".
I'm not sure how old you are, but there was a time when UF was a perennial SEC doormat.

I can’t possibly say I was wrong in any different way than I already have. Read the rest of the thread man.

You yourself said historically, yet you use your own prediction to advance Georgia ahead of Tennessee. Predictions are not historical !

It’s just forward looking statements to add to the historical stats, brother. No malicious intent.

UF didn't play football before Spurrier...like Vandy, had never won an SEC Title.

IMO, LSU is 2nd or 3rd behind Bama. They are certainly as much in the conversation as UGA.
LSU is 2 behind UT and UGA in SECCs with 11.
After Bama won the first 2, LSU won the next 2 SECCs.
Bama has won at least one SECC in all 9 decades of the SEC's existence, LSU is tied with UGA for 2nd with 7 decades.
LSU is tied with UF for second behind Bama's 16 NCs with 3, UT and AU have 2 and UGA has 1. (Just counting wire service NCs since 1936, thus discounting Bama's bogus '41 claim and others who claim anything other than AP/Coaches.)
LSU is 2nd behind Bama in the SEC in the College Football Warehouse all time rankings. 10th nationally.
LSU is essentially tied for 3rd with UGA in all time winning %, 13th nationally.
Major bowl records, LSU 2nd behind Bama:
Alabama: 26-16-1
LSU: 11-11-1
UGA 10-8
UG 8-7
UT: 8-11
AU: 4-7-1
Records vs other SEC teams, LSU 2nd behind Bama:
Bama: 13-0
LSU: 9-3-1
UGA: 9-4
UT: 9-4
AU: 8-4-1
UF: 7-5-1
Really UT, UGA and LSU are about the same. LSU may have the edge because of winning more NCs and performing better on the big stage of major bowls and NCs than UT. UGA is right there with LSU in major bowls but only the 1 NC to LSU's 3.
While UF was better than many realize prior to Spurrier with several AP poll appearances prior, usually in the 15-20 range, they were never a major player, even at the conference level til then. They had a spectacular run during Spurrier and Meyer. In fact, only UT with Neyland and UF with Spurrier and Meyer have an SEC coach with a winning % of 80+. Each one of those coaches won NCs. This besides Bama who has 5: Wade, Thomas, Bryant, Stallings and Saban, all of whom also won NCs.
Anyway, LSU should not be ignored when considering number 2 in the conf, though they will continue to slip with Coach O. UT may stop the bleeding with Pruitt. UGA is likely to take over 2nd with Smart if he can just win one NC, surely if he wins 2, as they would be 2nd to Bama in NCs, SECCs and major bowl/playoff victories. They are close to being a lock for number 2, if they can follow through.
