58, 03, 07 right? I thought that was generally agreed upon, what am I missing? If you want to count any 'ol poll that has you #1 like bama does we could claim 5, but we generally just land on 2.

Our school doesn't claim it but the NCAA does recognize a 1908 LSU NC team.

Georgia is only on this sheet once. huh. Tennessee only here twice. LSU 4x

After WW2 Alabama only counts those NC won using the AP, UPI, BCS, or Playoff system......

Before that, ncaa says Alabama won the NC in 25, 26, 30. So only 34 and 41 are in dispute... which most teams have one or two that they claim that the ncaa does not recognize (some even after 1960)

Some lSU fans are getting to be just like some Auburn fans. You want to claim a National Tittle that your own school doesn't recognize?

NCAA doesn’t recognize those Auburn titles, but does for LSU. That is the difference

But you do.

Really. That's sad. LSU and Auburn claim titles their own schools do not claim.

And who has more of a vested interest to claim a title? If the party that has a vested interest to claim one doesn't claim one, then that should tell you something.

By the way. Since you love the NCAA counting system, there is a NCAA site that also has Georgia down for 6 National Titles. Should we claim those?

And Auburn fan was trying to claim 5 because of that site. I wish I had bookmarked it now.

Doesn't look like he was claiming them. Just saying the NCAA gives us credit for 4 NCs. 99.99% of our fans only claim 58, 03, and 07

Not everyone chooses to retroactively claim a title decades after the fact like you do.

It's also listed on CFDW and the official NCAA site. DL thinks Alabama 1941 is more valid though since the school claims it.

Personally I think every school ought to claim the title for '41.

Frankly, most Bama fans do not claim 1941 "directly". But they do it indirectly by claiming 17 without knowing what that assumes. IMO, it's only 16. The reason the school claims it is not clear but is probably an odd story. But no doubt it is beyond bogus.

The school only claims wire service (AP & Coaches) NCs after the AP began crowning in 1936 and the Coaches in 1950. The only exception is the bogus 1941 title. Bama does not claim 2 of its best teams: 1945 perfect team that crushed USC in the last open Rose Bowl - USC was 9-0 previously in Rose Bowls. Then the 1966 11-0 team that Coach Bryant said was his best all time. But then they claim the ridiculous 1941 title. Bama's 4 pre poll claims are all very legitimate, not only did they have perfect seasons they went to the only bowl in the country, except for '34 when the Sugar and Orange started, the Rose Bowl, and won 3 and tied one with the team they shared the NC with - Pop Warner's previously perfect 26 Stanford team. Bama has been awarded a NC by some selector(s) in 30 different seasons. But they obviously don't claim them all - some of which are ridiculous, though you could make a case for a few.

IMO, UGA only has 1 NC vs LSU with 3 because they did not win the AP that year in the 40s - the Coaches poll had not started. That's the primary reason I give LSU a slight edge, though they have been on the national stage and won more than UGA, including major bowl wins - and even some of their losses were "wins". Though UGA has done well in the major bowls too. But it won't take much for UGA to pass LSU and UT. Just one little spurt because it is so close.
