So we will never pass Tennessee or Georgia because they had better teams before most of us were born?

Stop being obtuse.

That doesn’t seem like the best way to decide who the 2nd best team in conference is.

It does from a historical standpoint.

You want to carve out a 30 year period of history when we have 100 years to work with!

Yes, Florida can catch up, if they turn things around and do well, and Georgia and lSU tanks it for a bit.

But when we have twice the # of SEC Championships, it makes a difference. Florida had an excellent....superlative...outstanding 10-15 year run. But that doesn't erase the 80-90 year runs UGA and lSU has had.

Key word: Historically or in this case.....all-time.

Can we weight recent history heavier than pre segration stuff? I mean if this is the formula you could say Yale is a better program historically than Florida or Georgia but we both know that info is useless for this era.

Now, go back and read the title of the thread and see if you see this word:

Historically

I should have said conference championships.

15 to 8. Not exactly twice as many, but you get the idea.

Y'all don't though. The SoCon didn't have champs in football until 1933. And we have 11 SEC titles according to RollTide1987 and Bama logic.

Sorry. I was working my way down through the thread. And opinions are always welcome. Your is worth as much as ours, but when the OP spells out historically it limits the interpretation.

That said, nobody would argue that from the last 30 years or more, Florida has been the superior program to Georgia. You guys had a stretch that would be hard to match for anybody outside of Alabama.

Is that what you want to go by? Bama logic? Cause we might have a couple more National Championships we can pull out of a hat!

SIAA wiki page shows us with 3 championships

Our own page shows us with 2

We don't claim 1921

I’m not mad about it, I’m not going to make a new thread, I was genuinely curious why we were behind Tennessee and Georgia, you guys made some very valid points and I conceded that y’all were right. I’m not sure what else I can do? I obviously was wrong in my original thinking and owned it.

If you are going to stick around the Rant, you need t be a little less reasonable and calm. Crap. You need to be a LOT less reasonable and calm!

It's not outrageous to say that UF > UG. Y'all can get mad about it but rankings don't lie.

I was talking about Conference Championships.

But, as far as National Championships, no. Georgia does not recognize 1921. We recognize 1947 and 1980.

If the school does not recognize a championship, then I think it is silly for us fans to. (Just my opinion. You can claim what you like. )

SIAA Wikipedia page shows us with 3 conference championships

That would be 16

You aren’t wrong, but I hate being that guy. Lol I’d rather just take my L and not try to think of arbitrary reasons I’m not wrong. Life’s a lot better when you can be honest with yourself.

What rankings? I mean won/loss records don't lie, either, and we have a lot more wins.

Florida started playing 111 years ago and Georgia began
126 years ago. Considering that several of the early seasons for Georgia consisted of 2-3 games, and we have won right at 100 more games, I don't think it is too big a stretch to put Georgia a bit higher.

Not anxious to claim it, just curious why we don't...

Everybody is that guy on here. We argue for a lot of reasons. Some are reasonable, and some are just to push the buttons of other fan bases. And you are right. Life is a lot better when you can be honest with yourself.

Like I said. Over the past 30 years, it is Florida hands down. You guys set some pretty high standards.

I was a big fan of Tim Tebow, too, so it isn't real hard for me to give Florida their due.....to a certain extent.
