AA Elbert County High School in Georgia. The same high school that Mecole Hardman came from. I played with his dad. We have always been pretty good, with 1 state championship, and a ton of wins. We also have one of the best high school stadiums in America! The Granite Bowl!

Hewitt-Trussville. We weren't bad when I played but compared to what we are now things have changed a lot. We did have Cox but nowadays we're churning out recruits like mad.

Did you go to Mayfield or Graves County High? I went to Lone Oak back in the 70's. My mom's family is all over Graves County, mainly Symsonia.

Back in the day Mayfield had a rep for being a "home cooking" place where opponents never got a fair shake... kinda like playing at Paducah Tilghman!

My wife’s family lives in Griffin. Ive watched the bears play many games. I figured adding the second high school would hurt the program but so far Griffin has been able to keep the players.

I grew up on HighFalls Rd.east of town. Now we live off of Williamson Rd.

Yeah the Bears have kept on trucking for the most part. Won state in 13. I was on the sideline at the Dome(RIP) working for the radio station for that one and got to interview Devo after the game. Only thing is we are now on our 4th coach since Steve left. Rusty Easom , who was the DC on the title team, came back home and took the HC job in the winter after the previous HC, Reid, took a job at his alma mater, Central Fla. Hopefully now they can have some stability there.

I miss Devo, though. Dude won 129 games
over 14 years(2000-2013), 1 state title, 4 region titles, 5 quarterfinal appearances, including 3 in 4 years, 2 semis, and only missed the 2nd round twice. The man is a winner. And a better guy on top of it.

Go Bears!

They’re good now, but not nearly so much until just a couple of years ago.

Graves County. I grew up near Sedalia

You know they took Lone Oak, Reidland and Heath and consolidated them all into McCracken Co. High now?

Haha! I went to a small 1A high school in Tennessee. We played at Graves Co. Think we may have been the homecoming game.

St. Amant High School. Football is pretty good. Usually get to playoffs but never wins state title. Baseball is actually the sport we’re known for. Won a state championship my junior year and they reeled off 4 more after I graduated in 92.

You likely went to school with her foster brother and sisters.

I was at the Griffin at Thomson playoff in the early 2000s. Good times. Her family lives just outside the city limits on 19/41.

Euless Trinity. One of the usual suspects in Texas 6A making deep playoff runs with 3 state titles.

A few years ago MaxPreps thought Shiloh Christian was a powerhouse and ranked them #1 in the country. They wanted to play in the Herbstreit Classic to kick off the season and got Trinity. Led by Keihl Frazier, they quickly learned the difference between Arkansas 3A and Texas 6A. Our starters were in street clothes at halftime and the final was still 80-26.

Won a pile of district titles and a couple of state titles. For a while was ranked #1 in the country by USAToday. Unfortunately I was only around for about 1 year of that period of relative dominance (as a freshman when the team lost in the state title game). After that we lost our coach, who I believe went on to coach at college in Alabama, and we never recovered. But they were fun days, and I had a hell of a great time playing in the years after, even though it was an obvious period of decline for us. We were still considered dangerous and respected, and being on that team was a big thing.
