It’s crazy to think 3 of the top 5 winningest programs in the country are in a basketball state. Mayfield moved to 2A a few years ago and it hasn’t been the same. They dominated 1A for years. For years they played Danville or Beachwood for state title.
They’ve been coming up short in the state title games recently. It’s unusual

Probably and I may have an idea of who you are too, based on the username and being an LSU fan
If you are who I'm thinking then we were cool with each other and I hope you're doing alright

Thomas Edison, Tulsa OK. We were great when I went there in the 50's. They've probably sucked ever since. Most were bench warmers at OU.

Lost 5 games my entire 4 years of HS.
Lost to eventual 5A Champion Ruston my Senior Year
Lost to Central Lafourche (and future 4 year starter QB - Tommy Hodson) my Junior Year
Best 4-5 Year run of my High Schools Football History.

My alma mater: Baldwin Co HS, Bay Minette, AL. I went to school with Kelly Powell, who was starting QB for Ole Miss in the early 80s.
But I moved there halfway through my Freshman year from the GOAT highschool football school - Valdosta. In fact I grew up with Buck Belue, who was a pretty good friend of mine in elementary school. Helluva kickball player.
Of course he became the first true Freshman starting QB in VHS history the only season I was there. It was also ended up being one of only 4 seasons in the last 88 years they finished with a losing record

Minor High in Bham. Two quarters and one Semi when I was there no state championships. We always won our region.
We always hated Berry (now Hoover).

Avondale High School (Blue Devils)
Years later I was buying some stereo equipment from a guy in Atlanta, and I mentioned that I had spent part of my youth in Valdosta. His eyes got wide and said, “did you see the state championship the year they played Avondale? I was the kicker for the Blue Devils. We were sky high for that game, and I nailed the opening kickoff - and two seconds later some bastard blindsided me, knocked me unconscious and broke my leg. I came to in the Lowndes County Infirmary with a cast from my ankle to my crotch that I had to wear for a month. And the game went downhill from there.”
He was surprisingly good-natured about it

Thinking Northwest Rankin, but I'm not sure at all.
ETA: I'm wrong. NWR is in the northern divisions.

Oxford HS in AL.
'88, '89, '93, and '19 State Champs.
They've been really good the past 4 or 5 years until this year. Usually pretty solid overall. Almost always guaranteed a playoff spot with an early to mid round exit historically. Have put several kids into the SEC and elsewhere over the past 15 years.
The problem is we are big enough to attract up and coming coaching talent, but just small enough to not be able to keep them. The last 4 or 5 coaches to build successful programs have gone on to 7A jobs (Hoover,Auburn) or college (JSU). So the next guy comes in and the rebuilding begins. That's where we are this year. New coach is hired and most of the parents of all the talent didn't want him so they all transferred lol. The transfer portal is taking over HS FB too.

Palo Alto HS was a powerhouse in NorCal football when I went there, but like many things in CA, it has fallen off the map. There is very little to no youth football feeding the system, and there are severe restrictions on tackling time where they do play. If you want to know what has happened to Pac12 FB, take in a high school game in the Bay Area, and you will get your answer. Everybody has a really good place kicker, and the QB’s can toss it around, but that is about it.
