Something it’s going to take everyone a while to get used to is the result of such high roster turnover. You don’t always know what you’re getting in a player and how it will work out. Some guys will get a big NIL deal and mail it in, or be cancer. Good programs will have an odd down year, especially in the SEC where competition is so stout.

And once again Aggie embarrasses lsu. The truth has been spoken. Clean house top down.

BK is the winningest active CFN coach of all time and built his programs along his stops. The problem is that was all before NIL and like other programs, LSU hasn’t figured it out. If Elko doesn’t win the NC this year what will Aggie be saying about Elko? That he can’t win the big game(s)? Every program has its own storyline. I’d pump the brakes a little bit about A&M suddenly on the cusp of going on some dynasty run.
What? Elko is in his second year. He was 8-4 last year. This year he’s 8-0 so far. We are just winning the next game and caring about watching our team week to week.
We will get a chance to play in every game we play. If we win and end up in Atlanta so be it. If not, we will learn and move on.
No aggies are talking about being a dynasty. That’s garbage. That may be something you’re saying, or others are saying, and it’s certainly a goal for any team but we are just focused on Missouri.
I don’t understand this reasoning.

You are right. The game had changed. Vanderbilt is up. LSU, Florida and Texas are down.
Good luck, by the way. Texas A&M may be the best team in the nation right now.

Good points, Op!
There is this however ….
… what money? Especially after a buyout of this magnitude. Schools today are fricked.
You guys could have a magical season this year and seem to be doing just that but what happens next year when a lot of these players demand more — and they will. They didn’t come to College Station because they love A&M

True. It’s all about paying players. 10 million a year is Kelley’s annual buyout amount. Fire staff. Pay them less. Whittle down the athletic budget and increase your player budget. Buy players not staff. And if you buy staff make them affordable.

it’ll be interesting to see how these contracts look in this round of coaching hires but I think the era of big buy outs are over, or at least they should be. The ADs have to grow spines here and tell Sexton and them NO on the big buy outs clauses.
Agreed. But they just gave Cignetti a $90+ million, fully guaranteed contract...so the ADs are still the bitches of the Jimmy Sextons of the world. These morons playing with Monopoly money let this stupidity become "the norm" in contract negotiations.

Oh and one more thing. Fire your AD
This. He put the program in a ridiculous spot. Elevated the minor sports, which is wonderful, as long as you don't destroy the one that pays the bills.
The guy the hired before him should have been in jail for what he did at Duke, but instead he was in Baton Rouge signing buyouts for his own dumbass Ed O hire.

Put the money into players and hire an up and coming coach like the Aggies did. You’ve got to pay the players. You can grow a coach. Spend your money on talent.
So all that to say that its "Jimmy's and Joes" over "X's and O's".

Sounds like a very roundabout way of saying NIL has ruined college football
No, just ruined it for the dynastys that were paying more under the table.
Parity sucks when your means of cheating are ripped from under you.

Perfectly stated. Unfortunately somehow Sexton has people believing that you need to spend 10 million a year on a head coach to win. You don’t. You need players and coaches that grow a winning culture.
If I were LSU I would hire UTSA’s staff for a total of 12 million a year for everyone and fire everyone. Pay the annual buyout and pay players and get behind your team. There’s great coaching staffs out there that don’t make tons of money. Go get them.

Brian Kelly is the problem with LSU, period. LSU WILL ALWAYS get enough talent to win the SEC they just need a coach. Its always been that way. Kelly needs to go for LSU to get over the hump.

Here is the answer, and we are not going to like it, corporate sponsorship or partial ownership. Think English Premier League soccer. You only know who is who by the jersey colors. There is no team called Emirates Airlines, but that’s what the jersey says. The field is surrounded with adverts, etc. Universities need money and investors need returns.
The whole eventual can of worms with players and contracts is a wild card as well.

This is exactly how I’d approach it. Totally agree

I don’t think it’s that simple. Everyone has the ability to buy players from other teams. What keeps your players at LSU? It’s money. It’s not the college experience or the coaches. It’s money. Period.
So you need to be in a position to spend 40 million annually on players. And that means cheaper coaches.

The entire SEC football landscape is in a generational predicament because of Sankey's sellout to ESPN.
I don't have a stake in the current shape of the LSU program, but it did piss me off to hear the ESPN announcers mock LSU football.

I didn’t hear this nugget. But I’m interested. Did they really do this?
I mean your entire stadium left. That’s was what you chose to do.
I’m not sure anything they said would have mocked you more than that did. Your own fans rebuffed the team. Not the coaches, your team.
Your team deserved better. They deserved your support as fans. I understand yall were upset with Kelley.
But y’all’s team played their best and with heart. And you turned on them. On national TV.
You should be more embarrassed by your fans than your team or your coach.
