If you are paid by a pro team, you’re a pro. NFL teams are clearly determined by their NFL membership. They also follow the rules they agreed to or they are punished by the league they are members of

Too bad Sankey didn’t testify to that today in court, under oath. He clearly stated he didn’t know the difference between amateur and pro. He clearly stated he hadn’t read the NCAA 5 for 5 bylaw. he clearly stated that these kids are eligible per the wording of the by law. Keep opining and imagining things and I guess they will manifest. In the mean time , we will stick to the facts testifies to in court. Sankey killed the SEC lawsuit today. He won’t survive the year. He likely exposed the SEC to damages by alleging one thing in a public filing and testifying to something in complete contradiction to it in court.

No he didn’t. The kangaroo court turned out exactly how it could have been predicted to do so. The federal courts will decide this and if LSU refuses to adhere to league rules, they don’t belong in the league. This isn’t hard to figure out

If you are getting paid to play in college , you are a professional. This isn’t amateur athletics anymore but apparently that’s hard to understand for a lot of people .
Someone refresh my memory.
Did the conference sue Alabama when they played a guy who literally played basketball games in a pro league ?
Were they people calling for Alabama to be kicked out the conference?

Neither Sankey nor SEC’s counsel could answer that question yesterday when it mattered.
Rece is right - there is no current determination that is clear, and there’s currently no standard of a determination that’s been applied by the SEC.

I believe the players are pro athletes.
I also believe that pro sports leagues get to make their own rules about who gets to participate and who doesn’t.
The NFL, MLB and NBA all set their rules for who can play and pass down punishment when rules are broken as the NBA just did to the Clippers.
If the league doesn’t have that right there is no league because their entire propose no longer exists.
Ultimately LSU is telling the SEC they don’t get to make and enforce rules.
In the end the SEC may not have authority over LSU within the state of Louisiana.
They wouldn’t have authority over any other member at that point either so it might come down to LSU not being able to be a member of the league anymore if they don’t feel compelled to play by the rules the other members adhere to like someone being told to abide by the rules at a country club or be kicked out.
Doesn’t mean they can’t find a different club to play at but it doesn’t entitle them to break the rules of the club they joined which they don’t run.

Multiple sec schools have tennis players that played on the ATP tour and made 6 figures. You know what ATP stands for?

The SEC is absolutely fricked here and they know it. They can’t simply try and define professional athletes by only the nfl and ignore all other sports.
They have clear presentment of allowing professional athletes to compete. I truly have no idea how the own commissioner is not aware of this

It’s within their remit to tell their member institutions what the rules are or it isn’t.
It’s up to the member schools whether they want to be a part of a league with those rules or not.
Does LSU want to abide by the rules Georgia, Florida and Alabama have to abide by or not?
If not fine, but you don’t get to stay and dictate to everyone else what they can or can’t do. Your options are abide by the rules of the conference or exit the conference.

Yes they absolutely do. Every pro league does exactly that.
Men can’t play pro womens tennis.
You can’t jump straight to the NBA or NFL from high school.
There is a myriad of rules excluding groups from participating at the whims of the league making those determinations, it’s a predicate for every major sport in America.
Why did the NBA get to fine the Clippers for compensation violations? Because it’s their league and their rules.

For one, LSU isn’t telling the SEC anything…yet. The Federal suit definitely escalates the matter.
Yesterday’s ruling wasn’t that leagues can’t have rules. Jorden determined that this rule, as applied to these players, does not hold up while the case is pending.
Sankey kept saying the SEC’s line is clear. On the stand it wasn’t. Counsel asked why an NFL camp contract makes you a professional but a paycheck from an overseas league, or a massive NIL deal, does not. He didn’t have an answer beyond ‘we haven’t studied that yet.’ Judge said taking money in pro sports is no different than cashing a check in college.
So the ruling wasn’t “you can’t make your own rules” it was “it’s a problem when you can’t adequately define/explain them.”

Your local court ruled that just like an Alabama court temporarily granted an injunction to allow an excluded athlete to play.
Will a federal court? Unclear.

I said it in 2019 when I quit watching this CRAP, they have just destroyed CFB via these liberal judge ruling, and make no mistake, libs and their lawyers planned this out, they file suits on Saturday and every Sat. specific judges are mandated to rotate on the job, so they wait to a certain Sat. ad file the suite to get a preferred judge.
Well, if they do that in politics, these sane crooked lawyers who are making BANK are either 1.) Using the same tactics or 2.) Have paid off these judges with bribes. or BOTH.
But alas, it was the teams/colleges listening to NCAA Lawyers tell them to accept this who have shagged the dog, REMEMBER, these are the sane NCAA types (libs) who mandated the sate of North Carolina change their BATHROOM LAWS 10-12 years ago or they would not get any NCAA Tournament Basketball Games to host. So, they are libs. They hence knew what they were doing, in libs minds CFB is seen in weird ways, remember how they were saying 15-20 years ago this was slave labor? LOL The lib mindset is off the rails to us, but to them, they will do everything in their powers to change it, see Jemele Hill that is the LIB MIND. Everything is racism to them and they MUST FIX IT.
So, where did the teams/colleges/leagues like Big 10, SEC go wrong? They listened to the NCAA Lawyers and these Lawyers suing and said we might as well get on board. Whilst I put forth the direction they should have taken in 2015-1019.
The NCAA teams should have all cane into a room, and all agreed that from this point on they were going to STOP giving out Scholarships to any and all players, and from henceforth all players would pay their own ways to school. And since some were great players they could get a loan LIKE EVERYONE ELSE pretty easily. And they could transfer and play, but if any team played a player who transferred without sitting him out a year they would be finned 5 million dollars.
These THREATS would have placed the burden back on these STUPID CROOKED LAWYERS, by way of the players and heir families gripping about the blowback, in like 10 minutes these greedy lawyers would have dropped their stupid lawsuites, and these crooked judges wouldn't have had a case.

LSU is telling the SEC to enforce the rules for everyone or don't enforce them at all.
Don't just have rules for one coach or program.

College football is now a farm league for the NFL. They are no longer amateur players and it’s just not that hard to understand.

How are the rules being enforced selectively?
The penalties make clear that all schools would face sanctions if they play these players.
Your coach was named specifically because they believe they have evidence that he orchestrated this entire situation.
They didn’t pull his name out of a hat. He did Lane Kiffin stuff and they are calling him out for it.
