Basketball players who are "long" are called that because they have long arms.

For instance if you had a guy who was 6'4" but had a 6,8" wingspan... he would be long. Meanwhile... a guy who was 6'8" but had a 6'4" wing span wouldn't be.

As far as "foot in the ground"? I guess it is because the word "cut" is too hard to say.

“They are going tempo”

So stupid…it’s straight up an improper use of the word. What tempo are they going?

“Chunk play” also sucks

"Extending" a coach who is doing a good job and people like him is the latest sports jargon buffoonery.

"The Cocks are thinking about extending Beamer."

"Explosives" obviously makes a lot of people immediately think about toilets.

Newest and possibly worst yet. Especially when it's singular, "we had a chance for an explosive there at the end of the first half but we missed it". Seeing these supposedly alpha rough tough grown men latch on to little catchphrases overnight like a 17 year old girl on Tik Tok just makes me cringe

Cannot stand the word "patented" - like "he directed another one of his patented fourth quarter comebacks." Just shut up

What precedes that is "contain" vs. containment. How do you make a verb into a noun? He can't lose "contain" on the edge? And they all do it.
