Other than close family members who have died, I don't know that there's anything I miss more than OU-NU the day after Thanksgiving.

The one week of the year I care about Texas.

Yeah, hopefully my original comments didn’t inadvertently downplay it because for about 20-30 years, it didn’t get much bigger than Nebraska-Oklahoma the week of Thanksgiving.
There was literally an energy and buzz you could feel in the atmosphere that entire week.
That was a rivalry born of great competition and two great programs often playing that game for the right to go to the Orange Bowl.
My tip of the hat to OU-Texas was in acknowledgement of those additional aspects - proximity, history, familiarity, the neutral site in Dallas, etc. etc. All wonderful, added dynamics that make the RRS what it is and OU’s biggest long-time rival in UT.
I too miss the old league rivalry and back in its heyday it would’ve been inconceivable to think it would eventually end (much less OU in the SEC or NU in the Big Ten).
But that’s “progress” I suppose. At least it will live on in memory while the older gen is still around who lived it.
Good luck Saturday Sooners!

It's a cool game with the 50/50 crowd and the fair with a lot of big games. There is no real hate though. You can't spend 51 weeks a year sucking each others cocks and then "hate" each other for a week. Sooners idolize Texas and wish their kids can go to school there. Sips just use OU as their toadie and like how they aren't a threat to them except on the football field once a year. Sips and sooners constantly run to each others defense on this board and always will.
Great game, lots of history, but acting like this is some hate filled rivalry is laughable. Oh, and I'll root for the freaking Nazis if they are playing Texas.

There’s a mutual respect when it comes to the accomplishments of each in football but the hate is very strong by each fan base. You can’t go off just a small percentage of people on a board thinking there isn’t animosity between both sides.

What in the pre-2011 Big 12 hell is going on in this thread?

Yes, the Aggie is clueless about the dynamics of the rivalry. And what he is perceiving is only from the Texan perspective.
The real hate is between Texans and Oklahomans. Texans look down at Okies with absolute and complete contempt. Doesn't matter which brand of Texan it is. And Okies don't particularly appreciate that.
And SEC fans who don't know much about it see that OU and Texas fans have each other's backs in the SEC....
Well, perhaps Tennessee and Kentucky fans can appreciate this best. OU and Texas are like two life long fuedin' neighbors from one hollar who suddenly find themselves in another hollar where neither one of them is welcome.

Id rather get sushi fish from a gas station from a landlocked state than have anything to do with the land thieves.

a TX win would be better for us if we could somehow miraculously get our act together and contend for a spot in the SECCG.
Talk about a swing in emotions. Last week UF fans wanting Napier fired, this week talking about making it to the SECCG.
