Won a conference championship and played for a natty in year 2…

2005 was gassed by the SECCG. Even if LSU wins against Tennessee, they would have had to win in Atlanta also just to have a shot at the natty, and I doubt they get a nod over Texas or USC.

I’m sure there could be a Les Miles argument made there.

Richt had ONE top five class in his 15 year tenure.

Lets all agree that any coach that wins a Natty cannot be called underachieving. Even ONE championship rakes in a ton for the school over time so they definitely earn their worth.
To be fair - Jimbo did that at FSU. . . but I don't think any coach can rival his underachievement at aTm given everything at his disposal.

Yet they lost 4 games in 2 years basically all due to shitty offensive performances despite being loaded with talent.
Hey who was the offensive coordinator for those teams again?

No. Worst ever all because Dumbo can’t let go and hire OC. His offense better suited for 1939. Lol.

Jimbo is Mack Brown Lite. I say Lite because Mack actually had way more wins, but it took an amazing, maybe once in a lifetime player at QB to get them both Titles.
If not for Vince Young, I'm not sure Mack ever gets a title at Texas and he had recruited some amazing talent up until around 2009-10. He may have had a shot with Colt McCoy, but VY was such a stud, he refused to let them lose, and Mack and Greg Davis almost screwed up VY by not letting him play his game at first..
I'm not saying Jameis Winston is on the same level as VY as a college QB, but without him I doubt Jimbo ever wins a Title at Florida State...I don't know if any QB has ever been on the same level as VY in College. He was Cam Newton on steroids..Had he stayed at Texas his senior year, they probably would have had another Title.
Add to that, Aggy is cursed and always has been...

He has EVERYTHING at aTm - money, fan base, facilities, money, alumni support, top recruiting classes…did I mention MONEY?!?
Everything? Let’s start with recruiting. A&M’s last 5 years:
2022—1–don’t think the true freshman class is ready to lead them to an NC
2021—8–nice class, not sure they’re ready as sophomores
2020—6—ok, nice class
2019—4–Jimbo’s 1st top 5 class (and only 2nd in his tenure besides this year’s #1)
2018—17-ok
2017–13–decent 1st class
So, Jimbo’s 6 A&M recruiting classes are averaging 8.1666 in the country. Not bad at all, but he’s in the same division as Bama and LSU, who have better average classes in those 6 years, and Ole Miss, Auburn, Arkansas, and Mississippi State. Without looking at those 4 schools’ averages, I’m sure they’re all in the top 20. Is there that much difference between 8 and 20?
You’ve managed to say “money” literally 3 times, but “facilities” = “money,” so that’s 4, “alumni support” = “money,” so that’s 5, I’m assuming by “fan base support” you also mean “money,” but I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and say you meant filling up the stadium, being the 12th man, and giving them a home field advantage 8 out of their 12 games. But you really meant “money,” so let’s call it 5.5 times you referred to “money.”
I don’t understand why, after they’ve hired Jimbo, you are so obsessed with “money” making it easier for him to win. They’ve got enough to compete in the facilities arms race, which certainly helps. M
Do they have so much that they are boat racing other comparable schools? No. NIL just started, all that money just helped them buy 1 recruiting class of true freshmen. Does extra money in Jimbo’s account help him become a better coach somehow? I don’t see how. Probably less hungry which would lead to him being a little worse.
Can money help them hire a great staff? Theoretically. Do they have one? Not really. A nice staff, but Damien Craig is their OC. Are the best coaches in America lining up to go live in College Station and work for Jimbo for an extra $100k/per? Doesn’t look like it.
Do they have a lot of money? Absolutely. But so do a lot of other schools, many of which they are competing with. Do they have so much they should just be cruising to championships? Not in the least.
1) Jimbo’s a good, not great coach at this stage. His offense is too complicated and takes too long for guys to figure out. In 2022, few care to stay long enough to do it.
2) All that money, and he’s still running out Max Johnson and Haynes King at QB. Coaches build championship cultures, Jimmies and Joes have to go out there and win the damn things. And he hasn’t had a championship Jimmy or Joe at QB since Jameis.
3) This is underrated, but you have to have an established, decades-long winning tradition to win NCs. A&M hasn’t won since Bear Bryant. But teams have to go out and win big games because of the colors of their uniforms and the names written across their chest. Their has to be a decades long built-in expectation of being a championship program. Money can’t buy that in 6 years.
So, I’m certainly not taking up for Jimbo, but you say he has EVERYTHING when you really mean money. And money hasn’t allowed new kids on the block to come in and buy CFB championships since, what, Miami 40 years ago?
It is hard to win national championships in college football. Really, really fricking hard. Saban has warped people’s expectations, and even he couldn’t have done what he has anywhere else but Bama. Because they already had the built in infrastructure. He just perfected it. He’d have been successful almost anywhere, but not like at Bama. shite is hard. Real hard. I hate Jimbo. frick him. But because he has access to a lot of resources and hasn’t won an NC at A&M in his 6th year is certainly no proof of that. If you think it is, it’s only proof that you have no idea how hard it is to win 1.

Not at LSU.
Les Miles and Ed fricking Orgeron won NCs here.

Both did so in their third seasons.
Maybe, just maybe, the problem isn't the coaches.
Maybe it's the program and the culture.
Little Brother gonna always do Little Brother shite. And get Little Brother results.

Houston Nutt
He had Darren McFadden, Felix Jones and Peyton Hillis for two years together.
He didn't do squat with them.
