Has the SEC announced tie breaker procedures yet??

With no East and West next year, has the conference announced the rules that will be used to break ties? For example, if one team is 11–1 and 3 teams are at 9-3, how will the conference decide which 9-3 team gets to play in the SEC championship?

You've been around long enough to know that the C in SEC stands for conference. In English, you cannot say SEC conference without being redundant, at least not how you attempted to use it.

I haven't seen any, but I can guess.
I imagine the first will be head to head among the top teams if those tied have all played each other. If only two have played, whoever lost that one head to head would be eliminated I imagine.
I imagine next would be record against common conference opponents.
After that they could do some sort of point differential against common opponents but that one might not be included.
Last would be the rankings in the playoff poll I imagine.
And if two teams were tied there, then a coin flip.

Oof. Well, maybe I’ll update it just for you. I found the Big 12 tie breaker rules, and I was wondering if the SEC designed theirs already too.
quote:
Big 12 Tiebreaker rules Two teams tied
If two teams are tied for first place, both teams will participate in the championship game and the winner of the head-to-head will be the No. 1 seed.
If there is not a tie for first place, but two teams are tied for second place, the two-team tiebreaker policy will apply, and the winner will be the No. 2 seed and visiting team. If no game is played between the two tied teams or that game ends in a tie, the following tie-breaking procedures shall be applied:
Win percentage against the next highest placed common opponent in the standings (based on record in all games played within the conference), proceeding through the standings. Note: When arriving at another group of tied teams while comparing records, use each team’s win percentage against the collective tied teams as a group (prior to that group’s own tie-breaking procedure) rather than the performance against individual tied teams.
Win percentage against all common conference opponents.
Combined win percentage in conference games of conference opponents (ie, strength of conference schedule).
Total number of wins in a 12-game season. The following conditions will apply to the calculation of the total number of wins: 1. Only one win against a team from the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision or lower division will be counted annually. 2. Any games that are exempted from counting against the annual maximum number of football contests per NCAA rules. (current Bylaw 17.10.5.2.1) shall not be included.
Highest ranking by SportSource Analytics (team Rating Score metric) following the last weekend of regular-season games.
Coin toss.
Three (or more) team-Ties
In the event of a tie between more than two teams, the following procedures will be used. After one team has an advantage and is “seeded”, all remaining teams in the multiple-team tiebreaker will repeat the multiple-team tie-breaking procedure. If at any point the multiple-team tie is reduced to two teams, the two-team tie-breaking procedure will be applied.
Head-to-head (best cumulative win percentage in games among the tied teams). If not, every tied team has played each other, go to step 2.
Record against the next highest placed common opponent in the standings (based on record in all games played within the conference), proceeding through the standings. Note: When arriving at another group of tied teams while comparing records, use each team’s win percentage against the collective tied teams as a group (prior to that group’s own tie-breaking procedure) rather than the performance against individual tied teams.
Win percentage against all common conference opponents (must be common among all teams involved in the tie).
Combined win percentage in conference games of conference opponents (ie, strength of conference schedule).

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Sonic is somehow involved in the tie-breaker process.

It’s been announced to all of the realistic conference title contenders.

Man this place would melt.

I could really see this happening next year.

No need to worry Ags, I don't think you have to worry about being in any tiebreaker scenario in your lifetime.
Ags haven't sniffed a football title since they've been in the SEC.
Seriously, I'm sure we will get some clarification either at the spring meetings in Destin coming up in May or at SEC media days in July.

A coin toss would be brutal for everyone involved.

Not if it's held at Sonic.

I saw a sneak leak on one of the rules:
Rule 1. If Tx is involved in any ties, always rank them last. This avoids hearing them bitch about horns down for weeks on end.

It’s hard to know what will happen bc every team played each other in the Big 12, so there were head to heads to point to. Won’t be the case next year.

Feel free to ask LSU or UGA in November.

about 10 years ago there was a morning shown on College Sports radio where ut became basically a running joke to say conference multiple times after SEC as a way of mocking people who would call in and say "SEC conference". Host got tired of correcting them, so it morphed into people saying "... in the SEC conference conference."

It’s a pretty good rule. No one wants a team trying to get teams flagged all season for hand gestures.
