We would have been 3rd, so in the BCS we would not have played for a title.

BCS Projected simulations had us at 2 and Oklahoma at 3... using the CFP format where it's selected by a panel, we would have been left out though.

The short answer is it's harder to win because of the extra game against a top 4ish team...

Beating 2 Top 4 teams in 8 days away from home is incredibly difficult, no matter who you are.
Well, now twice in the last 7 years bama has had to play one less top team than their opponent in the championship game, so it isnt really much tougher for them

Sorry but nobody outside of Athens recognizes this.

And nobody outside of Tuscaloosa recognizes half of Alabama's titles, but that doesn't stop you from claiming 17, does it?

12 of our 17 titles (71%) are AP/Coaches titles, so those people would be very dumb.

It's harder because now teams have one more (very difficult) game to win. It's easier to get the opportunity to try, but harder to do.

You realize the same system that recognized Bama as NC's in 1941 (Houlgate) recognized Georgia as NC's in 1942

But let me guess yours is somehow legit?

You were saying...

Right on your link it says "Champion: Ohio State Buckeyes."

Some UGA clown edited that to say champions, but hey, it's on Wikipedia.

I recognize AP national championships and we have more than anyone. In fact in the modern era of college football no matter how you count them we have more National Championships than anyone. Doesn't matter what method you use

6 polls declared us the winners that year, which was a concensus. We went 11-1 and won the rose bowl. OSU was selected by the AP after going 9-1 and not playing in a bowl.

Meanwhile bama in 1941 finished 20th.

I think ours has a little more merit.

I think the LaGrange Grangers claiming 1941 probably has more merit. It's shameful.

Didn't your coach once say 'If a laundromat in Tuscaloosa wants to pick Alabama No. 1, we'll claim it'?

Yep. Obviously the winner has to win 2 games now instead of just one and I don't think it's any less controversial than the BCS; possibly more so.

I think you have us confused with Auburn.

In 1941 and 1942 there was one poll that mattered. The AP. Georgia didn't win that one. Sorry.

Ultimately, my opinion is that the CFP makes it harder for every team not named Bama because you actually determine who the best team is on the field. It's not a "mythical" national championship.

Win like Bama and then we can all say "... for every team not named Georgia ..."

Having one great year doesn't do it. Bama's had ... let's see now ... 8 or 9 great years in a row. Bitch about how unfair it is, but that's how a team earns that kind of reputation.

Just think how hard it was in the old days. You had to be #1 to have a guaranteed shot at the title. You could be unbeaten, finish #2, blow away your bowl opponent, then helpless watch #1 beat #12 in another bowl game.

And if you weren't Alabama, like UGA in '07, you would get penalized for not winning your conference (LSU jumped UGA that year to get into the NC game because they were SEC Champs).

how many games did UGA lose in 2007? Has Alabama ever gotten into a title game with two losses?
