Has Saban's presence at Alabama been good for the SEC?

Has the level of competition been elevated during his tenure? Have facilities at SEC schools been upgraded? Has coaching improved? Recruiting?
How will Nick Saban's time at Alabama be evaluated as it relates to the Conference?

Saban is mostly responsible for the program status of both Alabama and LSU, who are arguably the two best programs in the SEC, currently.

So yeah, Saban has been great for the SEC. Not just for Alabama.

thanks just for you daily attention.

Why are bama fans so insecure and they also seem to have some serious anxiety, because they can't function with telling everyone how great they are and they're always looking for some outside validation.

He’s done wonders for those suffering from dwarfism. Before they contribution to sports was midget wrestling. Now they can aspire to deity status of the extra chromosome state.

I think Alabama's dominance has been detrimental to the SEC, we used to have different schools rise to the top and compete for the national championship, now it seems like it mostly the Tide. Money has improved, with all that brings, but the conference was better when more fan bases were involved.

Well of course. Doesn’t the SEC get money when its teams compete in the playoffs?

And as Alabama innovates, others do. Auburn and Ole Miss pushed the SEC (and Alabama) to evolve their offenses. Alabama’s defense was smothering the Tuberville/Miles/Richt philosophies, and in came the hurry up/zone option styles of Gus and Freeze.

So I’d say it’s been good for the SEC. The dominance of Alabama’s program though - longevity wise - has deteriorated interest in CFB though. There will always be dynasties, but they usually only last a handful of years.

I wouldn't like it if I were a fan of any other team.

So from that respect, no.

But I do think the effect has elevated other programs, and changed the expectations for almost everyone.

Yep. I still remember rival fans calling Bama fans "star gazers" and laughed when Coach Saban upped the recruiting to elite levels.

Thank you for the well reasoned, insightful response.

No.
He makes the SEC look like a conference that cheats and pays players.

It’s a bad look*

Also continuing to claim illegitimate championships in modern times is sad*

Are you serious?
Just ask the conference ADs when they receive their NCAA/SEC checks!

Rough on opponents lips and knees. All that kneeling and ring kissing.
Seriously, sustained excellence is what makes Coach Saban stand out. In fact all of the SEC teams have had to endure multiple coaching changes except for Georgia, and they have been the 2nd most competitive SEC team. they made one good change and they are in position to challenge Alabama. The whole conference is recruiting better with better coaching hires and I personally believe it is on the verge of becoming much stronger top to bottom.all the teams are getting better in pursuit of the “Gold Standard”. Bama is fortunate to be there now. UF was there with Spurrier & Meyer. LSU with Saban, Miles & “O”. The difference is longevity.
