he got it down except for the part where you completed an improbable percentage of deep desperation bombs.

44 points against Alabama is impressive no matter how you spin it.
You have to give Saban credit though. He has adapted (I wonder if Miles will). Alabama has found ways to win and is the best team in the SEC imho.
I think Gus is adapting as well. If he gets a homerun hire for DC we will see tremendous improvement.

You completely miss the point of my post.
Your idiot compatriot says y'all will be putting up similar numbers "regularly"; against the 4 best defenses y'all played this year, you averaged 17.25 offensive PPG.
By comparison, our gimmicky HS offense averaged 34.25 offensive PPG against those same teams.
Y'all won Saturday because our defense sucks beyond belief; not because y'all are some super offensive powerhouse.

Doesn't happen often but Sims threw 3 uncharacteristic pics that were unearned gifts deep in our own territory. For contrast, he only had four on the season leading up to the first half of the IB. Play the game 10times and we win every game by an average of 21 points.

You lost. No miracles this year. Go to your room.

You should be more worried about your gimmicky high school fans who don't seem to understand the point of a scoreboard.

We won because we find ways to win, whether it be offense or defense.
You lost because you find ways to lose, typically defense but sometimes offense and defense.

Actually, yes he pretty much has. It wasn't coincidence that Auburn couldn't score in the redzone.
The option offense is always tricky to play when nobody else really plays it. A few years back the most points we gave up all year long was to a FCS school running the triple option.
And it's not like people don't know how to stop the triple option. But executing it on a whim isn't always the easiest things for the players to do.
Seemed like the gameplan was to stop the run and force Marshall to throw. DB's got burned a bit because of playing the run a little too hard, gave up some distance on plays. But when the field shrank in the endzone and they were able to cover and run up in support quickly the Auburn offense basically hit a wall.
I'm fine with Auburn having to resort to FG's entire games, and players who will in time become more and more familiar with executing.

quote:I love how when Bama fans can't argue facts they always try to twisting things. Last year all we heard was Bama was going to shut down Auburn. When they didn't they tried to make it all about the Kick 6. This year they were because the offense wasn't as good and it was a revenge game. When they didn't they don't want to talk that they just want to talk about points.

This thread is about Gus vs Saban and not just one game. Saban may have outsmarted Johnson but he took a step back stopping Gus.
Gimmicks only work a few times unless you do it on stupid people. So Saban is either stupid or Gus outsmarted him repeatedly.

You. Got. Blown. Out.
But congrats on your points. You should make one of those Smack shirts or something.

looks like Saban had it shut down pretty good in the redzone from where I was sitting imo

Which is what this thread is about. If Johnson had halfway done his job Auburn would have won easily. The rest is just you Bama fans trying to twist it into something else.

Actually, from the point you took a 12 point lead during the 3rd quarter to the time we were up 19 with 3 minutes left in the game we made plays on defense that allowed our offense to come back on the field and abuse your defense 5 possessions for TDs and run you out of the building.
Wasn't our best defensive performance, but when the game was in the balance and you guys needed to respond our defense > your offense.
But again, congrats on the first half and that pity drive at the end of the game. Print the shirts!

Interceptions put our D in bad spots. Make no mistake, Auburn had a hell of a game offensively. Their receivers are the truth. But Bama didn't help itself in the 1st half/1st drive of 3rd qtr. Those ints took TOP away from Bama and kept the D on the field way too long.

And Eddie Jackson couldn't run with Coates.
Once Sylve came in we only got beat down the field twice, once on the bogus catch call to Bray and the second was on an excellent play call by Gus that got Coates matched up on Geno Smith. And on all of those balls Marshall made perfect throws.
