This is still one of the most karma outcomes of a football game that I can remember. UF pospones due to hurricane, LSU whines, complains and refuses to play in Gainesville, game is moved to BR, then a beat up Gator team with a 3rd string QB upsets the mighty Tigers 16-10 on a goal line stand.

You can't make this shite up.

And even funnier is that LSU fans still whine about it and make jokes every time there is a chance of bad weather in Florida.

That’s certainly one take on it.

Ignores the fact the UF AD dragged his feet on making a decision just conveniently long enough that the game had to be postponed, allowing his team critical time to heal.

Alleva was a skunk, but his response was reasonable: if the storm is going to be so bad, cancel it. If the storm isn’t going to be that bad: let’s play ball anywhere Sat, Sun, or Monday.

UF’s AD delayed just long enough that it had to be moved to Nov with a lot of logistical issues for both teams, and a league rule was implemented preventing another school from pulling a UF again.

Exactly, a good AD would be able to predict the future of a storm. Sickening!

What is karma about delaying a game because guys were injured and then playing when they were healthy?

South Carolina and Georgia managed to play in Columbia that Sunday.

This.

Foley found a way out of playing LSU when his team was beat to frick.

Sankey has had this coming for a long time. Neither Alleva or fat Scott would have had the balls to go after him like our current AD.

You know what I have never heard from a single LSU fan?

Not one of you guys has ever said, "We will play you anytime, anywhere, period."

It is so strange that they continue to bring this us up 10 years later as some sort of knock against UF. Did nothing but whine and complain for a week, even got their damn state government involved. Think a US Senator as well. End up getting the game played in Baton Rouge and lost. Why would you willingly choose to keep reminding people of this?

It is an El Niño year. Should be some terrible hurricanes the next few months.

El Nino typically lessens Atlantic hurricane impacts...

Are you talking about Pacific basin storms?

Well that's not true.

quote:

Alleva said Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley insisted as late as Wednesday that Florida would be able to host the game and would not explore any other alternatives. Foley's message changed on Thursday when weather forecasts concerning the hurricane grew more ominous.

"They thought it was going to stay out on the coast. That's what they said," Alleva said. "They thought it was going to be OK. That was basically it. From our experience here, we knew that first responders and policemen would not be available because whenever there's a storm you're going to lose all those important people. All those things I don't think were properly taken into consideration."

quote:

Alleva said LSU offered multiple options to the SEC and Florida including playing in Baton Rouge, at a neutral site and even for the Tigers to fly into Gainesville on Sunday and out that night after the game, should it be moved back one day.

"We were willing to play anywhere that we needed to play," Alleva said.
