Alabama has always had control of Mobile, until the Fran/Price/Shula years. They've also always done well around Pensacola. Though it's usually pretty split between Florida State, Florida, and Alabama.

Well Bama does have a commit from the best Panhandle player avaiable and one of the best in Florida so since Bama only takes one or two a year from that area they are usually the best palyers available from the panhandle.

As a bama fan I never thought we had control of the panhandle at all. We have gotten good players from their but fsu,uf, lsu and auburn have been players for along time. One thing I give Saban credit for is that I don't think he needs the very best high school players to win. I think he develops players as good as anybody and coaches them up. The fact is we are pretty stacked right now and players want to play not set for a few years and then play. JMO

I don't think anyone is insinuating that Alabama ever did, outside of the OP. Alabama gets its fair share from the Florida Panhandle, but so does Florida, Florida State, and others. Now, south Alabama is another story. Alabama gets most of who they want as long as Saban has been in Tuscaloosa. That was the case before Fran/Price/Shula years too.

There is a mix of fans, so just about any school could recruit from the Panhandle. There is not an overwhelming amount of talent or size on a yearly basis. HS football talent is good, but the baseball talent is a little easier to find. The Pandhandle is behind compared to south FLA.

I'm going to channel my inner 2008 Aubie here: Stars do not matter. Saban knows how to coach 'em up. Class and character are far greater traits than talent.

So GFY, because at the end of the day, Saban is still owning America in rah-crootin'

I hear CLM has his eye on a Qb from one of the panhandle schools. Real high on his wish list. Has a lot of up side, only a 5th grader. We are in his top 10.

The rise of FSU will cause a few problems for Bama, Auburn, UGA, and anyone who recruits the panhandle of Florida and South Georgia. It is certainly not crucial that Bama have that area locked down though.

D Craig is a great recruiter. FSU has a lot to sell right now. They are doing a great job for sure.

I'm not concerned at all.

UGA has always recruited well

^^^^This...Craig is a huge factor, Jimbo seems to be focused with a lot to offer, UGA doing well but no real concern as it seems we are recruiting more broadly on a national level. This just can't continue for more than one or two recruiting cycles...if it does then we can worry.

Saban and Co. got bored with the panhandle and moved on to Orlando. Hart and Dix say "what's up".

To say I have absolutely no concerns about Nick Saban's recruiting ability would be the understatement of the year.

Call me on signing day...
