Getting to 6th street is the issue, and there is a lot of construction in the area. The area around campus has a lot of junkies and homeless types

Austin has become a crime ridden crap hole. Watch your wallets bama fans...

You travel to crime ridden shitholes far worse than Austin for football games every year, quit being a pussy. I hate cities and Austin is one of the nicest in America and a great place to visit. The crime rate in Huntsville is significantly higher than Austin, yet you still live there.

Any good high school games Friday night? I know westlake plays Thursday but my dad and I were trying to see a game while in town?

Also, any suggestions on hill country wineries? We’re staying out in Oak Hill.

Several sources will prove that’s false.

Doug, I live out in Dripping Springs which is very close to Oak Hill. It is the "wedding capital of Texas".

Which means an insane amount of microbreweries, distilleries and wineries all within about 15 miles of one another. Literally dozens of them.

You can't go wrong. Go have a tasting and them more on. Just try to find a driver!!!

For a UT guy you sure don't know shite about where to go out in Austin

I'm just giving a full run-down for people who don't know Austin. One would be remiss if they didn't mention 6th St. It's historically relevant.

Obviously, someone like me would rather hang out at more trendy places like Rainey St, East 6th, or Red River St. Maybe even The Domain if I'm feeling less adventurous.

Haymaker, DrinkWell, The Elephant Room, Draught House, Easy Tiger, and BarFly's are great bars.

You were saying??

The first two sites I checked disagree. I could care less, I live just outside of Huntsville...the point was you shouldn't feel unsafe in either place unless you're a pussy.

I find this hard to believe. Some of my friends kids work down there for the Space Program and their neighborhoods were very nice.

A number of years after what I mentioned above, I retired from that job and was doing consulting work. One of my many stops consulting, took me to Scott & White up the road a bit. Austin airport was one of the easiest to get in and out of but getting there on Friday afternoon was a crap shoot. Would drive past Round Rock many times but never got to the DELL factory. But, any kind of accident or traffic jam with the one interstate in (seems like it was an elevated that went right through UT), made you miss your flight out. More than once I had to take the next available. Sounds crazy but I could get there early enough, there was a really good BBQ joint right there in the airport.

For starters, you can turn on the fricking A/C in the visitors' locker room. LSU didn't get the same reception.

For any Bama fans worried about running into a bunch of homeless people, just avoid the circled areas and you'll be fine.

We've been over this. Orgeron completely fabricated that weird-arse lie as an excuse for why his players were faking cramps in order to slow down our offense. See below:

Had this place randomly on a bachelor party back in 2017. We ran into a lady that put on a sausage festival in Austin and told us to try it. Was really good.
