The best brisket in Austin is from Brown’s food trailer on South Lamar next to Corner Bar. It’s better than Franklin.

Is the tower in your circle where Charles Whitman was located?

My older brother worked the pipeline the summer that happened with a UT student. The guy left work and went home because a friend of his was one of the victims (don't remember if injured or killed).

It's outside my circle but yes that's where Charles Whitman was shooting from. My father was a student at UT when that happened.

So you recommend 6th st,but then circle it to avoid the homeless folks?

People, don't go to 6th it is nothing more Than bums panhandling, and teenagers looking for trouble. It's a crowded shithole.

You won't get into Franklin's before the game, don't try. There are several great bbq places in town. Try Black's across from zilker.
Great places to go eat on west 6th, between whole foods and Mopac. Also all along Lamar there are great local places.
Rainey for your trendy overpriced drinks. The Roosevelt Room is good, Crown and Anchor is great pre game and after, the Tavern on Lamar is good too. El Arroyo has decent food but good drinks. It's an Austin institution. Matt's El Ranchero is not what it used to be but still good, however the margaritas are still excellent. Hula hut for the drinks and patio. Trudys is terrible since they moved.
For a burger either dirtys or jewboy. Both are top notch. Tacos is take your pick, you won't go wrong.

Oh I see the pin now. A friend of the family was in the Austin Police and Friends with McCoy. He was off the day it happened but always told us stories of the event from McCoy’s point of view. I may visit the site while there. After all I am a history major.

Austin is a shitehole and it’s pathetic that their sorry team garnered a 11 am Jefferson Pilot kickoff time and not a prime time slot.

Incorrect. But not everywhere can be a thriving metropolis like Auburn, Alabama.

Fix your airport, the worst place for return flights being in schedule. I'll pass.

Also, any suggestions on hill country wineries? We’re staying out in Oak Hill.

I don't live in Austin anymore but my friends are at these 3 pretty religiously. There are a hundred different answers depending on what Bama fans are looking for.

What is the least hipster/homeless/leftist bar in town?
The Continental Club, on South Congress.

“This is simply one of the greatest clubs in the country. With its rich tradition and great reputation for always having the best music, the Continental Club is a hot spot for anyone who digs seeing great bands in an intimate atmosphere. As far as musicians are concerned, there's no better place to play... or go.”

Continental Club is great. If you get there by Wednesday, James McMurtry traditionally plays a midnight set that is always packed and lots of fun. Google Austin Chronicle for concert calendar around town.
