sorry outside of the Fla game there is nothing phenominal about GM, but he is an undefeated champion. If we didnt have two of the best backs in cfb and a top 3 defense his record is not nearly this good. He took over one game this season and that was Fla.
17 TDs and 4 INTs is pretty phenominal. When your TD/INT ratio is over 4, then you're doing something right.

If Greg doesn't work out in the NFL he could always play Conan O'Brien in The Late Shift 2.

Who said anything about that? That would be a terrible comparison by the way

You guys won despite of him in the title game!

He only threw the ball 11 times in that game. He didn't really have much chance to do well or poorly.
The scary thing was that he was sacked 5 times. If we did have to pass to win, I'm not certain our O-line would have gone along with that plan.

I'm getting pissed just thinking about it
Pissed about what? That had the receiver not stepped out, and the play stood, Ole Miss would still have had to scored from the four with five seconds left.

Most of the sacks were because of great coverage by Texas, and Mcelroy being too scared to throw the ball down field because he didnt want to throw an interception. The Oline really wasnt doing too bad of a job.

Him and JJ had just about the same stats and LSU people are wanting to bench him. its amazing what a good line and dominate run game can do for a qb. i wish LSU fans knew this.
Sure a running game helps anyone but if you watch JJ he just looks like he has never played the position before, from his throwing mechanics to footwork to pocket presence/awareness.
McElroy you can tell has solid fundamentals regardless of if you want to argue pure natural talent/measurables or not.
JJ sucks as a QB - GMac serviceable to very solid to maybe even very good. Life must be nice in those purple tinted glasses...at least until the season starts and JJ still exhibits the same poor qualities he has the previous 2 years.

You give Mc Elroy too little credit. When we needed him to step up (Auburn,Florida) he did.
Texas whipped our receivers asses. They could not get open much and credit Mc Elroy for not trying to force a throw.
Plus you forget he played that game with cracked ribs.I can't prove it but believe we got conservative vs Texas to protect him since we were doing a poor job of pass protection and we didn't need him taking many more hits.

Tom Brady played with broken ribs for several games at the end of the season(allegedly, a-hole Belichick will never tell)and played well , McElroy couldn't play with 3 cracked ribs? If he's so "phenomenal" as the OP touts, shouldn't he be able to play through such an injury?

I am not trying to belittle his accomplishments this season. He was the starting QB for an undefeated national championship team. He avoided making crucial mistakes, and adequately distributed the ball.
I am not, however, going to say he was phenomenal.

Congrats to him, he definitely played well enough to win games and didn't turn the ball over, but that's not phenom worthy. No one think Matt Mauck or Matt Flynn are going to earn phenom status.

A "phenomenal" junior QB would have left for the draft this year...

Greg McElroy was phenomenal for us
People here are just bitter about his success. The SEC rant expert all claimed Bama would suffer and lose games with him starting because he did not beat out JPW in previous years. Little did they know......
It was damn close/lucky on a few games.
As long as you have a good backfield and a great defense, your QB just has to limit mistakes.
McElroy just did his job. Nothing phenomenal about that. The word phenomenal should be reserved for the defense and the RBs.
