Nope. We wouldn't. But he did his job, perfomred well, and never got us beat.

JPW got us beat more than once. See Ole Miss 2007

Was it the Ole Miss game when JPW threw the pick six and the end of the first half?

Not sure.

Dave,

However much I appreciate your fawning all over me, I'm a flaming heterosexual.

I can't help you dude. We could be friends, but no benefits. You ok with that?

He threw a 100 yrd pick six against the Bulldogs. In the '07 LSU game, his fumble was costly as well.

That makes him a winner, but not necessarily phenomenal.

Well you make a good point, but you can look at it in different ways. All we need is a QB that doesn't lose the game for us and needs to make a play every once in a while. McElroy did that for us(maybe not ALL the time, but he did his part). Maybe that can be considered "phenomenal". He did what was asked of him. He did what he was supposed to do.

So doing what is asked of you and what you are supposed to do is exceedingly or unbelievably great?

I bet your wife thinks you have nine inches, too.

I am not trying to belittle his accomplishments this season. He was the starting QB for an undefeated national championship team. He avoided making crucial mistakes, and adequately distributed the ball.

I am not, however, going to say he was phenomenal.

Bama's defense was phenomenal. Hell, your defense scored more points in the championship game than your offense. Maybe not technically, but realistically.

It doesn't make him great in everyones eyes, but he was great for the team.

I don't have a wife. I'm only 22. I wish I did though

I see what you are saying. He won't be considered one of the all time greats. He won't be mentioned with Namath, Stabler, etc. other than the fact they all played for Alabama. But he was phenomenal for the team. It's just another way for people to look at it if they choose. But I do see what your point is.

sorry outside of the Fla game there is nothing phenominal about GM, but he is an undefeated champion. If we didnt have two of the best backs in cfb and a top 3 defense his record is not nearly this good. He took over one game this season and that was Fla.

If you know Saban you know that a lot of the time Mac looks like he is lost is because there is immense pressure not to throw a pick. He is exactly what we needed this year.
Next year especially early in the season he will need to lead the team and the offense. As the season goes along he will have less and less pressure in my opinion.

No. That would be the game where we were robbed at the end of the second half

Many LSU fans still don't get it. You play great defense, have very solid lineman, and have a good running game your QB does not have to be a great. He just needs to be efficient and smart with the football. Everybody is dogging out Jefferson, but what has changed is the way LSU plays. We no longer play the games with a good running game, dominant lineman, and a great defense. LSU has gone away from this. Saban may not be an offensive genious, but his philosophy will win many more West Titles over LSU.
