Made the SEC CG, made the CFP, and won a CFP game.

Definitely sounds like "Bama is no longer competitive."

1. I can't read it because it's a paid article.

2. Alabama is still competitive, just no longer dominating the sport.

Funny he created the largest stockpile of unfair advantage thru talent in Modern football history only to whine about fairness once the field has been leveled.....

Strange days.

The field hasn't been leveled though. Nothing was stopping other schools from doing what Nick Saban and Alabama did. However, now in this era of NIL (pay for play), there is a real disparity between schools who have rich boosters and those who do not. This is creating a legitimately unequal playing field that is going to squeeze out smaller schools.

You're already starting to see it in the NFL Draft. Almost 50% of all players drafted had transferred at least once. Not only that, only 75 different schools were represented in the NFL Draft - the fewest since 1938.

So you’re saying teams in the past should have cheated and out their school at risk of NCAA violations to keep up with the protected teams like Bama, but now that schools with money and smarts, like Indiana, win it’s unfair? Dude, you aren’t going to garner any support with that line of reasoning. If anything the rest of the country is ready to watch the next 50 years of teams beating those who cheated and boasted about it for the past 50 years.

Listen, I agree with you and I wished my team would have played the bag man game because losing and being taunted about losing sucks. But everyone saw what the NCAA did to SMU which cost their program 30 years of relevancy, So most teams accepted 7 win seasons with an occasional 10 win season all while watching the Ohio States, Michigans, USC and half the SEC buy 5 star after 5 star and then mock us while winning. So, now your darn right teams with money are about to emerge now that it’s legal and the players have shown they will come. And this is just the beginning as most teams still haven’t really started using NIL in a full scale way. Give it another 5 years and it will make today seem like child’s play.

Your reading comprehension skills aren't good, but that's okay. Just so you're tracking - I count Alabama as one of those schools who has the money to compete in the NIL era. They aren't as wealthy as schools like Georgia, Texas, or Texas A&M, but we'll be able to hold our own and compete for championships with the right coach in place.

No, that's not what I was talking about.

What I was talking about were smaller schools, such as those in G5 conferences. These are schools who, while unable to breakthrough to the big time due being a lower tier program, some still managed to compete at high levels on a consistent basis. Boise State is a program that immediately comes to mind. Schools like them are the ones who are going to suffer in the current state of college football.

The balkanization of the sport has begun in earnest. Talent is becoming grouped more and more inside the P4, specifically the P4 schools with money, at the expense of G5 schools and poorer P4 schools. Talent was actually distributed more evenly during the 1960s and 1970s, when you had 150+ collegiate programs putting players into the NFL Draft on a yearly basis.

You actually believe that? Saban can lament the way business is being done while doing what’s necessary to win. He didn’t get the bama job then start beating arse. He got the bama job bc he turned lsu into a beast that allowed Les miles to win a natty after saban won one. He got the lsu job bc he was beating arse Mich state. He went where the resources are. Maybe that’s bama moving forward maybe it’s not but nick saban could have picked his school. Nothing was stopping him from moving to a Texas tech with double eagle or Indiana with mark cuban. Saban generally thinks this is shat is bad for cfb or espn told him to think. He’s definitely not whining. You guys are conflating nick sabans position in football with Alabamas.

Roll tide,
I think you are in for a rude awakening the next 30 years for your team. Sure, today, you guys are still competing and able to sign high end players out of high school and get some guys via the portal because of the name and recent history of your success,

But that doesn’t mean it’s gonna continue. What will the donations from a Bama fanbase look like in a decade from now when no high school player remembers who Saban is or has seen a Natty in Tuscaloosa. I’m not saying that’s gonna happen but the reality is you have a question mark at head coach and Gibbs was the last big time transfer you’ve got. I know you recently got the commitment from the stud Haven. Will he sign? Will your current coaches still be the coaches? Will he transfer?

I’m not a Bama hater and root for them often from week to week but dynasties come and go and there is nothing inherent about Tuscaloosa, Alabama that will maintain success in and of itself. And a lot of fanbases will start playing the money game. All I’m saying this isn’t the Saban years and fans are fickle.

What is funny is that pretty much everyone (outside of Indiana fans maybe) do not like what cfb has turned into and constantly laments about it, BUT when Saban voices his displeasure about it, he's "crying" or "whining" ( even though he won the SEC and came a play away from the NC game in his last year)

Really peculiar, that.

dude I am not concerning myself with what things will look like 10-30 years from now. Sounds exhausting.
