So you're saying that the NCAA - with no players - would be more successful?

Explain how that would work for me...

Because all the players are going to band together, even the ones in highschool, and refuse to play for NCAA schools?

Ya, ok.

They could never afford to visit, and we don't want them to.

If the NCAA holds its ground, and the universities stick with them, those kids aren’t going to have an option. Especially the football players.

For how long? Something like the AAF will eventually stick and then you will actually see ALL of the top talent leave and play for a league actually compensating them.

Other than the top 20 or so programs splitting from the rest and creating their own league, right?

This is a distinct possibility if the NCAA doesn’t play ball.

If everyone gets to pay players that won't happen. You'll still get top recruits going all over the country as teams strategically decide budgets and how much to throw at who. I've heard the argument and it's illogical.

The NCAA doesn't have to comply with anything, the member institutions make the rules and agree to abide by the rules when they sign on to be a part of the voluntary organization.

So many people fail to grasp this.

Now I could maybe see the NFL try to lean on the NCAA, but honestly I don't think they will. Why get a kid fresh out of high school when he can be developed for four more years under a banner NCAA program?

Do you not understand how much more money the top 5% of programs have? They will horde the top talent worse than they do already because they’re the only ones who can afford it.

The only thing that’s illogical is you saying nothing bad can happen to CFB in this scenario.

If California passes the law the schools in the state of California must comply or they are subject to litigation. It's plainly written in the law. They do have to comply in the state of California or be subject to a lawsuit, whther that lawsuit gors anywhere is a seperate story in and of itself but from a legal perspective the NCAA must comply in the state of California. This is why they've suggested dismissing all California schools from the NCAA.

Here's how I know you're talking out of your arse: you said top 5%. There's 130 D1 FBS teams. That's 6.5 programs numb nuts. No they will not be the only one to afford the top players even schools like Rutgers get over $100,000,000 in revenue yearly. The money is there throughout the country. Also, the top of the top recuits will demand exponential more than your average middle of the pack recruit and the top teams won't be able to get everyone. It's just not realistic.

Your argument is highly illogical and based primarily on fear and dogma. That's just a factual observation.

There are only 7 or 8 programs that are self sustained. Looks like my quick math was pretty much spot on.

Those programs would have a distinct advantage if it came to paying players.

Says the guy claiming that literally nothing bad for college football can come from this.

“Logical”

NCAA needs to tell Cali to get fricked. Hopefully the California and west coast schools make their own athletic association and leave the ncaa

Even if rosters are made up of lower quality players - there will be “good” players on every team that will feel like they should be getting more.

It’s not rocket science.

People presenting their opinion as “factual” is great. It’s particularly great when their opinion is that negative consequences literally won’t happen.

1. We're talking about football programs not Athletic departments. 2. There were 22 programs even if we are going for athletic departments as a whole and all them are D1 FBS schools.

people slamming California have probably never been there. San Diego is as nice as any City in America.

They just listen to the idiots on TV telling them it's a hell hole, when it's not.

I lived in San Jose for nearly 10 years.

California is the most racist state I've ever lived in.

It's the begining of the end.

At least I got to see LSU win and compete for several National Championships. I feel for the true pasionate fans of teams that never experienced it.
