YES...let me do some stat compiling. Be back in 20.

He got a contract extension after making those statements so it's reasonable to suggest you aren't in a position to advise him on what's smart for him to do or not

Would you rather 100% of 50 or 50% of 150?

And if Auburn has a top 10 def next year it is unlikely we lose a game.

Just curious, but where did Malzahn promise anything?

It's a saying, idiot.

Saying "I expect a top 10 defense" and then having a 30th ranked one is considered a failure. Saying "I expect improvement and a competitive defense" and then having a 30th ranked one can be considered a success.

Get it?

I know they're worse. I'm not challenging you to find bad numbers. I'm just saying that persistent comments on how he sucks probably impresses folks on the Tiger Rant but it doesn't do anything for me.

I wasn't expecting Steele to produce well after LSU struggled in '14 in defense and lost two starting DEs. I also don't expect him to be great at Auburn either

Malzahn could say that AU will not win a game. He could say AU should win the Natty. It doesn't matter. He must show a steady improvement this year to keep his job.

That said, I am more accustomed to coaches who temper expectations.I just don't believe that his employment as AU's HC is not based on his comments or outspoken expectations.

Auburn giving him an extension for under delivering doesn't make doing so a positive. It makes Auburn dumb.

Oh so you were making shite up in relation to the OP. gotcha

Your saying is a bunch of BS because in reality successful people dont expect low to help their perception to others. that is a trait for losers.

So, you know nothing about negotiating deliverables in a business setting.

Got it.

I really don't care if you think he's awesome or terrible, I'm just glad he's gone. I damn sure don't care enough to dig through stat tables, he's your problem now.

What I am saying is you know nothing of a successful life, if that is your philosophy as well.

You dont aim low, so you can accomplish your goals with ease.

You can spin it however you want. You said it wasnt smart for him to say that. He said it. Then got his contract extended.

One could suggest that he knows how to work his situation.

It's great that Saban or whoever undersell and over deliver but Gus clearly knows that his situation is different.

Call that what you want on Auburn's end but it has done nothing but help Gus personally

Again, you know nothing about good business practices. You should just stop. But here's a quick lesson:

You set the expectation at what you're sure you can deliver, and then try to exceed it. You never set the expectation at what you think you may be able to achieve, just in case you don't.

That's business 101.

Maybe that's the problem. The SEC's worst defense returns pretty much everyone.

quote:

Do you want to post offensive stats? You can compare Arkansas and Georgia if you want.

Sure. Arkansas ranked #2 in the SEC in Offensive Yards per play... Georgia ranked #5. Now put the offensive and defensive numbers together to see which teams were the best at out-gaining their opponents per play:

1. Ole Miss: +2.02 yards/play
2. Alabama: +1.59
3. LSU: +1.53
4. Georgia: +1.27
5. Miss. St.: +1.14
6. Arkansas: +0.76
7. Florida: +0.46
8. Tennessee: +0.35
9. Texas A&M: +0.17
10. Missouri: +0.06
11. Auburn: +0.02
12. Kentucky: -0.08
13. S. Carolina: -0.42
14. Vanderbilt: -0.67

Oh. Would you rather look at it from a points perspective? Scoring Offense minus Scoring Defense per game:

1. Alabama: +20.0 pts/game
2. Ole Miss: +18.2
3. Tennessee: +15.2
4. Miss. St.: +11.2
5. Georgia: +9.4
6. LSU: +8.5
6. Arkansas: +8.5
8. Texas A&M: +5.8
9. Florida: +4.9
10. Auburn: +1.5
11. Missouri: -2.6
12. Kentucky: -2.7
13. S. Carolina: -5.6
14. Vanderbilt: -5.8

That was fun. Thanks for playing.

How about:

-------Total D--Scoring D--Pass D--Opp. First Downs

2014------9th------4th-------3rd-------6th
2015-----25th-----41st------65th------46th

Look at how badly we regressed from 2014 to 2015. That is fricking abysmal.

And of course:

To give you an idea of how daunting a task this will be, here’s Auburn’s national ranking in total defense over the last six seasons:

2015 — 71st
2014 — 66th
2013 — 87th
2012 — 81st
2011 — 80th
2010 — 60th

This is so surprising to me, because for years when I thought of Auburn, I always thought, tough hard nosed defense, and big powerful running backs.

Gus is never going to have a top ten defense with his HS offense.
