At least I know when Gone With the Wind came out and it was more than 65 years ago. You are seriously going to deflect from that and defend it?
I don't give a frick about "Gone With the Wind," and I wasn't defending or deflecting anything. Congrats on being a mathlete. I was pointing out how ironic it was that you called someone out for missing something so basic while at the same time using the incorrect predicative compliment. Ironically, you used "correctly" incorrectly. It should have been "correct", as in "At least get the basics correct."
Don't call someone stupid while you yourself are being stupid.
Sorry I had to explain that to you.

My mother made my dad take me to see the last showing in what I think was the 70s. I’ve purchased a number of early edition hardcover books to give to my family.

I remember my Dad talking about this movie when it came out when he was a kid. Back then you paid for entry and I think you could just stay in the movie house and watch the movie over. Said it was so good that they would spend the day there watching it 2 or 3 times. I laughed at him of course.
Wasn’t until many years later that I actually was bored enough to sit down and watch the movie at the house, it’s amazing just how good the movie is and it makes you wonder why they can’t make movies like this anymore vs all the comic book shite that they make today.

Same thing for me and my parents.
When my parents got their first VCR player, which was the size of suitcase, my Dad got Gone with the Wind and I sat down and watched it with him. After that I fell love with the movie. The book is even better if you get a chance to read it I highly recommend it!
You are right, they just don't make movies like that anymore. I dare them to try to do a remake!

You absolutely were. I called out his post and you immediately tried to deflect to a grammatical error I made. That is the very definiton of deflection.

I was on point with my criticism and you deflected. The fact you don't know this is more perplexing than my mistake.

People did this because the movie theater had air conditioning.

"Gone With the Wind" is a timeless classic.
With all the chatter about this movie growing up I finally found an opportunity to watch it. I just couldn't get through it. Then I would hear about its greatness and try again. That was a long azz, chick flick.
And therein lies the problem. If they had made the movie from Rhett Butler's perspective, maybe, but I was ready to choke out the Scarlett Ohara character myself and just put that movie out of its 4-hour misery.

It is called the dumbing down of society. A friend of mine who used to own a number of theaters told me that writing a movie in the current day is secondary to the glitz/action/graphics etc that are used to wow people. A movie like GWTW is a dinosaur these days.

Until at least the late 90s it was shown 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year on one of the screens at the Theater in The CNN Center….for free. They also screened selections of TMC titles until 2000 so GWTW probably played on a loop until the theater closed. The theater was the first “ multiplex” in Atlanta so the rooms and screens were more akin to what theaters are now but big enough to have a theater feel. Fathom events offers it from time to time at select theaters…

My son is a WGA staff writer for a medium sized studio in Atlanta and it is ahocking how little writers make….it is only going to get worse. The studios are not interested in quality and their business model doesn’t seem to be interested making money…in fact their actions seem to suggest their intention is to lose money. The public will spend $40 for 2 people to see an Adam Sandler comedy….the film industry is shite. Streaming is its death knell
