Even though it came out eighty-five years ago it is still beloved by Southerners everywhere. I doubt anything like it will ever be made again.
Fun Fact-it was the #1 movie at the Box Office the last time Texas A&M won a National Championship in football.
ETA so at least the joke works. I am an idiot and totally fricked it up originally, as you will see if you continue to read the thread.

This isn't accurate.
A&M has one national title in 1939 and it was 84 years ago

Plus they burned down Atlanta. Maybe got Athens on its way. Was burned down by the superintendent of LSU, William Tecumseh Sherman.

In other University of Georgia football news news, 1936 was the last time that a college football team went back to back to back. The Minnesota Golden Gophers. Not all of the Golden Gophers' championships were during the AP Poll era. Georgia about to have the first three-peat in the history of the AP Poll era.

At least I know when Gone With the Wind came out and it was more than 65 years ago. You are seriously going to deflect from that and defend it?

There was a land of Cavaliers and Cotton Fields called the Old South... Here in this pretty world Gallantry took its last bow.. Here was the last ever to be seen of Knights and their Ladies Fair, of Master and Slave... Look for it only in books, for it is no more than a dream remembered.

It beat Wizard of Oz for best picture. Great year for movies.

The television and regular broadcasting were introduced in 1939. If you were one of the few thousand households within the 48 states of the US that own this 5" screen RCA, you were the talk of the town.

Probably the best year ever for movies.
Did Citizen Kane come out that year or was that '41? Stage Coach? Mr Smith? Gunga Din? Goodbye Mr Chips? Dodge City? Jesse James? There were maybe five or six of the all time greatest that came out that year. Babes in Arms maybe? There are others.
ETA: Dang, I just looked it up .... holy cow there were a ton including some not listed below that I listed above.
The year 1939 was one in which the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences nominated ten films for Best Picture:
Dark Victory
Gone with the Wind (Best Picture winner)
Goodbye, Mr. Chips
Love Affair
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
Ninotchka
Of Mice and Men
Stagecoach
The Wizard of Oz
Wuthering Heights

A&M's one and only National Championship is closer in time to the Civil War than it is to the current day.

But we got one. Despite what Sidewalk will try to argue.
