I think Arch was vastly overrated, but this is much ado about nothing. I would expect a freshman to be third string at this point.

This, Arch was definitely not the best player in the country coming out of high school but this is Texas's 4th spring practice according to this...people need to chill with the shock headlines.

If he never takes a snap at Texas, he'd have been worth it for the recruiting class he helped solidify.

One of our insiders (from another site) felt that he was overrated at #1 but would still turn out to be a very good QB. Just not #1 player in the country type of QB. He also felt a huge value would go to the school that signed him from the other recruits he would attract....very similar to what you just voiced. Don't misunderstand, though...he still felt Manning would develop into a very good QB.

All of you are so much more knowledgeable than Sark about the QB position

Guy was always a low 4 star talent. He’s not a start as a freshman at a major program type of talent.

Pretty good player with a great last name.

But, was it a "gentlemen's agreement"?

Manning will be pushed into the QB1 spot before he is ready because that is what the boosters want. Donghorn football is all about giving the big boosters what they want. If not, they will replace the coach before Manning rides the bench for very long. It explains why their program has been in such bad shape since Mack Brown left. Brown and then AD DeLoss Dodds did not let the boosters push them around.

They can't do that this year when they literally just did that last year with Ewers. All the boosters wanted Ewers as the starter and he's got 2 years on Manning.

No reason to think Manning is going to start at any point this season barring injuries

It’s not exactly a secret that Iamaleava at UTenn was the best QB last cycle. A 6’6 Tua

Anyone criticizing Arch as an early entry should think about where Stetson Bennett was as a first, second, third and fourth year player.

If my memory serves me, he actually got benched in a game his senior year for poor play, NOT injury or anything.
I watched some tape of him playing and I told some fellow UGA fans that I wouldn't trade him for Gunner Stockton or Brock "the Rock" Vandagriff and it's not even close. Both of their career numbers dwarf Mannings, and that don't always mean anything, but they are two awesome specimens and I just wasn't that impressed with Manning. I agree with others who have said he is big and got a great name, but in reality, he's an average QB on the field.
